Is there such a thing? I'm leaving for Italy tomorrow and need recommendations.

Oh, IS THERE. Mozzarella di bufala! Super-fresh, oozing milk! For the rest, depends where you're going--every locality will have its own specialties.

Oh, so many. If there try real Parmesan cheese ("Parmigiano-Reggiano" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parmigiano-Reggiano) - so very different from what they usually serve as Parmesan. Or Gorgonzola (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorgonzola_%28cheese%29) a lovely blue cheese.

But Italy is a real cheese country - all kinds of regional specialties.

As everyone else has said, there certainly is!

Have a fabulous trip! I've never been to Rome, but I loved Venice and Florence. Sono molto gelosa!

P.s.: the Italian word for cheese is "fromaggio" (could come in handy).

We had some bufala and some other unidentifiable good stuff. Gained 4 lbs. must have been good. Why does wine taste better there than here?

The wine they make tastes better there. I think they keep all the good stuff for themselves.

I've read certain wines don't travel well. Especially Italian wines, for some reason. Maybe it's all the jostling.
