I myself have read the whole Ranger Apprentice series, all 8 of them!!
I admit I was hooked after the first 3, but then the books got so predictable, since I had read so many of the authors books, that I knew exactly what was going to happen!!
So this question I ask you all of u ranger apprentice readers and those of you who haven't but have read a different REALLY long series, do u get tired of an author or series after you have read it for a while??

I read the first Ranger's Apprentice book and I thought it was good, but it didn't motivate me to read the rest of the series. I'd say that some authors are great with long series, but others should just stick to trilogies and sagas.

I know have another question for all you out there in cyberspace, what do you get out of finishing a long series. Do you feel happy, sad, excited, tired?? What do you thing??

I think it depends on the author. For example, the 11-part Sword of Truth series was fantastic for 6 books. After that, it turned into something almost unreadable.
On the other hand, the Dresden Files is 12 books in (with another 11 to go), and the latest book is arguably the best in the series so far.

I get what your saying.
I haven't read either of those series, is the second one you mention really good?

I think it's fantastic. It's an urban fantasy series. The main character Harry Dresden is a wizard working in Chicago. He's the only openly practicing wizard in the entire country. Each book is self-contained as a different case, but they all tie into an overall story arc. It has a unique world and very interesting characters who actually grow throughout the series.
It does start out a little rough, though. The first book is good, but the second one is probably the weakest of them all. If you can make it past that one, it really picks up from then on.

Sounds really good!!
I'll try them in a while I'm reading a ton of other stuff and I don't want to overlong myself.
So would you say a series where they get better throughout the series is unique or a lot of series are like that??

I would say it's unique for them to get better. I've only read a few that did (Dresden Files and Harry Potter are the ones that stick out the most). Most of them either get worse or stay consistent throughout (and maybe fall flat on their face with the ending).

Lol, I agree with you!!
I say that is true for the Hunger games series, mocking jay was an insult to the series!!
What do you think??

harry potter, percy jackson and the series Tomorrow, When The War Began (seven books) are the only ones so far that stay readable.
the marked series get so terrible i had to stop. i dont even know how many books are in that one...maybe 6.
i have five in my library and i hate that i wasted my money on them. the begining of the story was good but farther no i got so annoyed with it. and after my favorite character died i permanently gave up on the seires.
so i think less is more/better.

I totally understand what your saying. I wish for Percy Jackson and Harry potter there would have been more books!!
I haven't read "tomorrow when the war begins" are they anygood??

yea pretty good. its not fantsy though.
i think to some people there might be some slow parts but those dont last long.
there are some sex scense. so if you dont like those you might consider not reading them.

Sure but I don't think I'll be able to start it for a while. :( I have got a ton of other stuff to read already!!
16Mariah7
same here! i was just saying that i need to stop looking at new books and read the ones i have. :)
17mrmcfluff
I really need to stop reading series though!! Once I start one I HAVE to finish the whole series!! And trust me I have forced myself through some pretty bad ones just so I coup feel accomplishment at the end!! That's why I started this group!!
Does anyone else feel like they read the first book In A series and you are obligated to read the next few In the series??

mrmcfluff, I agree that Mockingjay was an insult. While I did like the infiltration scene, I absolutely hated how the assault on the mountain was handled as well as Prim's death and the ending itself. Completely unsatisfying.
21mrmcfluff
I was so disappointed that I forced myself to waste one whole night of sleep just to finish that monstrosity of a book!!
22jrg1316
I'm hoping that a good director will be able to flesh out some of the details with the important scenes. I think Prim's death could be absolutely devastating to audiences if done right. Here's hoping.

I am only on the 6th book, but my friend says that they just came out with the eleventh. But I love the books so far.
25mrmcfluff
I again am in a deleima guys, let me tell you the scenario. Once i finish the book I'm reading ( look at topic Uglies... for more information :) ) I don't know weather to start the second books in a series where I didn't really like the first book. Or should I start a totally new book?? Tell me what you think, please!!

I know this question doesn't pertain to the ranger's apprentice series but it has the same idea about to many books in a series can ruin it. So I have heard rumors that JK Rowling might write another Harry potter book!!
I say that if they do it will be a mockery of all the other books. Thoughts??

idk. thats a tough one.
i loved how it ended and another book might ruin it. i would still read though and give it a try.

i think that if she writes another one, it would be interesting to see someone besides harry as the main character. perhaps james (harry's dad) or james (harry's son) would be cool....
31sarahy
i heard (when 7 came out) that she was going to see if it was a huge hit and fans wanted more, then she would consider another book

I think the Ranger Apprentice was pretty good even though after all 10 books it felt a little bit long. But I did love having a chance to check in with all the favorite characters! Especially seeing them grow, and fall in love.
