I just finished The Emerald Atlas and really enjoyed it. I have become very skeptical of books that are hyped by the publisher too much and the author is a screenwriter so that is a double whammy in my book. That being said, I really feel this one is a winner! It is very much like the Narnia books, Harry Potter and the Hobbit full of dark characters, uber-heroic heroes and clever orphans. No language or adult themes so great as a family read aloud. There is violence (what fantasy fairy tale is without) but it is handled well. Following the trend, this is book one of three.
