1,121 books?

Is there something I'm missing here? We've clearly got more than 1,121 books in this group - why is that number not updating?

There does seem to be a lag. The 'group Zeitgeist' page appears to have stalled sometime yesterday afternoon, too. Are there any long time users here that can explain how the updates are supposed to work?

Nothing's changed except the member list - same total number, same shared, same list of kendrak's recently added books.

Shhh... everyone tiptoe back to Metafilter, and maybe they won't realize it was us...

Fixed. And we dragged LT's founder over to MetaFilter. Now, let's hit Amazon and get Jeff Bezos posting on the blue.

Okay, I've written to Tim once already to update the Zeitgeist, but again it's remained unchanged for days. (And I'm totally embarrassed by my book selections on that page. God! What a geek!) So what goes on here? Is the page supposed to be automaticallly updated or what? Why isn't it working for our group?

Well, I just manually updated it, and I didn't see any change—I was looking at just part of it. But, basically, I don't think a lot of new people have joined in the last week. What are you expecting to see?

Incidentally, the way it's *supposed* to work is keyed to entries and exits. At first, it's every one, but as you get higher it only updates the Zeitgeist every 3, 5 or 10. We are planning to improve this, so it updates on a regular schedule, but we can't be redoing the calculations every time you hit the page.

thanks, Tim! I demand up-to-the-second updates on languagehat's library. That's pretty much why I'm here.... ;>
