I have just finished the following Torchwood books:

They have been mooched before, but they have been handled very carefully by me and previous owners.

Hey, I want to reveal my 'secret' source for books but I hope this is politically correct/doesn't go against any rules. For those of you who live near a DollarTree store you can get new bargain books there, for a dollar of course. What they have varies but I've found some really good books, especially non-fiction; some are on many wishlists. When I've mentioned this to friends who shop there often, most have never even looked at the books so that's why I thought I let people know. You should inspect any books before buying them because some may be damaged. And no I don't own stock in DollarTree and I don't know about any other dollar stores. Happy Hunting!

15chelonianmobile
Jun 7, 2011, 3:14 pm

>14 muyilusionada: A lot of us go to charity shops and the like to get books, so no worries. :) For me the hard part is not going out and buying things just for BookMooch. I have enough points and enough books that need to go out as it is!

Dollar Tree does sometimes have some great stuff. Of course, sometimes they have the second book of a trilogy and then you buy it without realizing and then you have to put the first book on your wishlist . . . Generally I avoid Dollar Tree, just because I always wind up spending money on stupid little things that mysteriously appeared in my basket.

I have some wishlisted YA and fantasy books here. These were originally from the "only put them up when you're short on points" pile, but I've come to the conclusion (read: admitted) that I STILL don't have enough bookshelves, so duplicates and books I've read, but not loved, are out.

I will ship anywhere, but I've got a full schedule of late, so they may not go out until the end of the month.

(Canadians, I know about the postal strike, so feel free to call dibs, I'll gladly delay.)

Looking for Alaska by John Green - TPB with Printz sticker. Excellent condition.
I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak - TPB with Printz sticker. Excellent.
Wasteland by Francesca Lia Block - Small, excellent
The Hanged Man by Francesca Lia Block - Small, excellent

Steward of Song by Adam Stemple - MMP very good
Summon the Keeper by Tanya Huff - MMP excellent
Anahita's Woven Riddle by Meghan Nuttall Sayres - TPB, excellent
Visitants: Stories of Fallen Angels and Heavenly Hosts by Stephen Jones, Ed. - Large TPB, very good.

I've got some shoujo manga in Japanese in my inventory, too, as well as a couple of totally random things that have been there for ages.

This is a very odd pimping, but I have copies of the 2009 and 2010 publications of Nyack College's "The Fine Print", their journal of literature and art. As school publications go, they are actually not too bad. (There is a fair amount of decent poetry from faculty, though also some really awful student stuff as well, as one would expect, I think.) I'm not holding on to them, so if anyone is interested in them, they can be found in my inventory here:

@wester: The Kennistechnologie book is from the Open Universiteit Informatica study. It's a course book. I'll look up the author and publication date as soon as I'm home, which will be this evening or tomorrow (I'm staying at a friend's at the moment).
I'll make a list of the philosophy books as well (if there are quite a few you want, maaaaybe it's easier to meet up somewhere instead of sending so many books over the mail - I don't really mind about getting all the BM points for the philosophy books).
EDIT: I see you live in Utrecht! I live in Nieuwegein and study in Utrecht :)

@orangewords: I'll reserve it for you!

@Heather19: I'll make a list of the psychology books (with topic in English for easiness) as well when I'm home :)
Easy Dutch books... This one is the easiest in my inventory, it's for first grade elementary school children who just learned to read. The other books in my inventory are for children and teens who can already read quite easily. No books to learn Dutch however. The only learn-Dutch book I know (and have experience with) is a Japanese one, so it's not useful for English -> Dutch.

61orangewords

63mene
Edited: Jun 29, 2011, 11:57 am

@orangewords: Quite easy, I think. At least the Dutch versions, for the English versions you have to search a bit more. When I visited flea markets, I came across his adult books quite often (mostly the Dutch translations though). In bookstores you can always almost buy his children's books (Dutch, not always English). That his Dutch books are so easy to find is the reason I have almost all his Dutch books and only a few English ones.

For @wester, the information about the AI book:

For @wester and @Heather19: the list of philosophy and psychology books.
Because I was copying titles anyway, I just typed up all of my grandfather's books and sorted them by category. I have NOT added ISBNs and publishing dates to all titles, that was too much work. Only to some books, though there are more books with ISBNs (except for the very old ones of course).
Yes, it is an entire bookcase!

68: I'm leaning towards "Pluralisme, integratie en cohesie" by Henk E.S. Woldring and "Gewoon bizonder (over homofiel zijn, pedofilie, exhibitionisme, incest, prostituée en protituant)". Almost all of them sound so interesting though, lol!

I would like:

- Martin Heidegger, De weg van zijn denken - Otto Pöggeler
- Gedachten over het denken - Joan Wynn Reeves
- Het menselijk gelaat - Emmanuel Levinas
- Het lachen - Henri Bergson
- Kunstmatige intelligentie - Kennistechnologie voorbij traditionele paradigma's

I'm still not sure about the Prydain books.

@Heather19: Ok, I've reserved those books for you :) They're both light paperbacks. "Pluralisme" looks like new but has pencil notes by my grandfather, and "Gewoon bizonder" has some wear on the spine but looks very good otherwise too. They're 342 gr together and the rate for 250 - 500 is the same, so if you see other books you like I can check if they are light enough :) If you want, that is, otherwise I'll send these two together :)

@wester: I'll keep them apart until you know everything you want :) The books you listed above are all paperbacks and in good to very good condition.
