So, what are y'all doing in the runup to the release of the very last HP movie? Rewatching the movies, rereading the books? Rereading HogX threads?

I've been revisiting the hilarious Mark Reads Harry Potter, archive info of which may be found here.

Just schoolwork. I'm taking my state certification exam in about 2 weeks. LOTS to cover. I'll celebrate passing with a viewing of Harry Potter.

I'll be re-reading all books, and re-reading all movies so it's all fresh in my memory. I can't wait until it comes out, but sad that it is the last HP film. :(

Tickets went on sale today. I bought some at 9 this morning after Fandango emailed me.

I'm re-reading all the books and plan to re-watch all the movies. I'm not sure there's actually enough time to complete this, but I'm hoping it'll happen!

I keep meaning to read Mark Reads Harry Potter, as I loved Mark Reads Twilight, but haven't gotten around to it (and probably won't until after the movie some time). I don't want to reread the books just yet (I reread them for DH1, so they're still pretty fresh in my memory. I will probably re-watch the movies

I'm rereading. I am on POA right now

I'm rereading the series as well, I am now finishing GoF and I am planning on rewatching the movies, I just hope there's enough time....

I was rereading...but now think I'll have to give it up until later. No time. :(

Thanks for the link LG. I haven't read those before. It almost makes me wish I had read the series when I was older and could see these funny things right off instead of just being hypnotized by everything o_0;;

ETA: Oh, and I haven't been doing anything particular in the build-up yet. I've been considering re-reading book 7, but I've been wish-washy and unmotivated with reading lately. Also, have a group read to start/finish. So I may just end up getting the HP fix when I go to the theatre.

For those who have the cash and time, AMC Theaters are doing a 4-night Harry Potter movie marathon leading up to the DH2 midnight screening. Tickets are $45, which is actually only $5.63/movie.

Thats not bad. I wish I had the time and the patience to go.

Here is a link to an Architectural Digest story about the sets and their construction on DHII. Great pics. http://www.architecturaldigest.com/resources/features/2011/07/harry-potter-set-d...

I have been rereading a Harry Potter book about every other month. I just started HBP. I won't reread DH until after I see the movie. If I can't stand it, I will read the first half and stop. If I reread right before I find it ruins the movie for me. I only notice the wrong stuff, not the good parts. As far as movies, I will definitely watch DHI before going. I hope to have time for the others, but I will wait and see. As long as Gregor continues to do well, I am planning to go down to watch the new movie with foggi! I can't wait!

I'll probably just watch all the movies again before I go see the Deathly Hallows 2

I finished the reread! And I think I am going to rewatch all of the movies in anticipation of the last one! And I already got tickets for the premiere and I'm watching it with all of my best friends!

I finished HBP last night, so I should at least get through all the books before I see DH2. I had hoped to re-watch all the movies after completing my re-read, but I don't think the timing will work. However, I don't plan to see DH2 until Monday, July 18 (my birthday!), so I might yet make it...

Anyone here a sufficiently complete fan that they made it to Traffalgar Square yesterday? The BBC report that it was pretty amazing.

I am not sure, but based on some facebook pictures I think Ron was there!

LOL! I love the shot of Tom Felton standing in front of the angry Harry Potter poster!

I'm confused by the one of the fans with the caption about people dressing in costume. None of those people are in costume. One is wearing black-rimmed glasses, but they're less Harry Potter and more Hipster.

I have now watched movies 1-6. I don't think I will have time for 7part1, but I have watched it a couple times on DVD already.
I ordered a t-shirt and I am hoping it comes on time.
I decided to start reading DH, but if it get to Shell Cottage before Thursday night, I am going to stop. I checked out the audio CDs for the car ride down to Foggi's in case I don't get to the Shell Cottage part!
I have printed directions and maps to get to Foggi's!
I can't wait for Thursday night! I noticed there will be a full moon out.

#28 compski:
Watch out for Fenwick! ;)

I just got a t-shirt for DH and an elder wand-pen. Also, a keychain of the symbol for the deathly hallows has been added to my work keys with the mockingjay keychain from Hunger Games. When I was out getting these things today, the cashier was distracted and muttering "not again" as people removed a cloak blanket from it's box. I overheard that it was the third time today.

Jul 13, 2011, 10:37 am

#29 - K, where did you find an elder wand pen? That sounds interesting!

I mistimed my re-read and re-watch, and it looks like I'll only get through the re-reads...and that'll be tight. I knew it was a long shot when I started, but I've really enjoyed re-reading the series so no regrets there! I do hope to re-watch DH1 before I see DH2 on Monday.

I feel like such a bad fan! I've done nothing to prepare! It's been at least a month since I've finished any book and it's hard to watch a whole movie any more. There's a wee one crawling everywhere who insists on getting into things when she isn't being closely attended. :P~ She may have taken a sip from the dog's water bowl today.

But it's WEDNESDAY already!! I'll have to at least watch 7 part 1 again. Maybe if I start it tonight I'll have finished it by the time I go see part 2.

I've got a blog post up today about the decision to split the book into films. (It's spoiler-free aside from me stating that I found part 2 to be awesome) Since I always love the smart thoughtful comments you all share around here, I wanted to put out a special invite for people to weigh in over on my blog!

Discuss away:

I had a great time at Foggi's place, although very quick. Unfortunately my t-shirt didn't arrive on time, but it turned out great!

I will have to wear it when I go with my brother next week.

Foggi gave me a pigmy puff! Here he is with my sweater from Cat and other HP stuff:

ETA: I have named him Bilius!

Very cool compski :-)

I am thinkning of going to DH2 tomorrow after work. I usually go to salsa dancing on a Tuesday, but I'm a little poor this week so I think I'll go to the cinema instead, as I have a subscription and it won't cost me any extra. :-)

My brother and I are finally going to go seethe movie tomorrow. We were waiting for the 3D version to leave, but we are giving up on that. It will be interesting to see the difference between 2D and 3D. I will finally get to wear my t-shirt!
