I recently noticed on the cover of the "Early Summer 2011" EP catalog a copy of "Twenty Years After" on the shelf in the picture. I take it to mean that EP once published the full set of the d'Artagnan books, including "The Three Musketeers", "Twenty Years After", and "The Man In the Iron Mask" together.

I have seen quite a few copies of the first and third books, but never one of the second (Twenty Years After) on any second-hand site. It would be great if EP would re-publish this set, especially given the success it has had being recently published by the Folio Society.

I just want any fine publisher to publish the whole 5 instead of missing out the middle. Bits of The Man in the Iron Mask make no sense without the previous 2 books (even if they are substandard).

I haven't seen an Easton Press Twenty Years After either but the Easton press The Black Tulip has a great looking binding, I wish I could ever find it at a reasonable price.

It'd be nice if they could include The Vicomte of Bragelonne and Louise de la Vallière.

>2 LipstickAndAviators:

Good point, it would be wonderful if they published all parts of "The Vicomte of Bragelonne: Ten Years Later" as separate volumes.

Yes they did. It was item #0448.

The Greatest Novels of the Three Musketeers
The Three Musketeers
Twenty Years After
The Man in the Iron Mask

I purchased it in 2003. If they ever re-publish it, I wish they would include the part of the story that comes between Twenty Years After and The Man in the Iron Mask.

Seems there's a bit of a consensus going on here about the missing part of the saga!

Sorry to jack your thread with that a bit, but at least you got your answer from Tom41 :) Good luck finding you missing volume!

I have the EP set of three. The covers are all identical, but in different colors. I have never seen a copy of Twenty Years After on ebay, and I've wondered why. I wonder how many were actually printed.

On a side note, I enjoy looking at the books shown on the catalog covers for things I've never seen before. One item I found a bit strange was on the latest "Summer 2011" catalog, there are 2 duplicate copies of "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" right next to each other on the second shelf from the bottom. Were they so short that day that they couldn't find another book!? :)

I've got the set as well, all with illustrations by Edy Legrand. Unfortunately, EP chose to not reproduce the illustrations in color (the original LEC versions were hand colored).

Does anyone know if EP has reprinted all of the LEC Dumas titles?
The Black Tulip - yes
The Count of Monte Cristo - yes
The Three Musketeers - yes
Twenty Years After - yes
The Man in the Iron Mask - yes
Marguerite de Valois - ?
The Queen's Necklace - ?

Did Cyril Arnstam do the Queen's Necklace? I think I have this at home. They are really gorgeous illustrations:

I could never find much more of his work though:

Here's some more, the cafe one is awful, like "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" awful. I bet it sold well:

I took some pictures of the Cyril Arnstam illustrations, could someone please show me the LT page on how to post photographs in a thread. I don't know why I can't find it myself.

>11 DanMat:: I don't know why I can't find it myself.

Because its not easy to find nor is it intuitive. You need to upload your image and a thumbnail of your image to the LT wiki library. You can access the upload via help at the top right corner of your window. You need to access in the wiki library or somehow otherwise note the address of each picture. Then, using < a href= ... /a > HTML code in a post, create an image link using the thumbnail to the full size version of the photo. Very painstaking. Once I realized how much trouble goes into posting images, I give SilentInAWay and LucasTrask a lot of credit for the amount of illustrated posts they've created in this forum.

Of course, Silent gave up before finishing the job. ; ) (I'm still waiting for him to finish so he can get started on the 'Masterpieces of American Literature' link. I'm also still waiting to hear about the three Mobys.)

I predict Lucas will give up before he is finished too. ; ) (Just a hunch ... knowing how much work it is, though I hope I'm wrong.)

I thought I did it once, I guess I was mistaken. Maybe I'll upload theses to flickr after I create an account, not as nice as just putting them in the thread itself though. And the pictures, no matter how many I take, are all just "pretty good". I'll have to be less critical when others upload pictures of illustrations...

Yeah, those guys need credit, those threads are just so much more fun with the images in them! Even when I return to them for an nth time!

Thanks!

I'm not sure Silent has given up as I he is still uploading images to WikiThing, including Friday, yesterday and today. The problem is when you edit a post it doesn't bump it up, so unless you go and check you won't know when he as updated this thread.

As for me, I'm sure I'll give up if I have to update all the images I've uploaded one more time. Of course that assuming I finish updating what I have already uploaded. ;-) I'm posting updates of my progress on my discussion thread, so those that are interest will be alerted. If all goes well I may start posting more flyers next weekend, although the family will be for the holiday, so I may not have much time.

I think Tim's spending too much time on Pro and Con. Give us some decent tools man!

Here's a quick and dirty:

*A little more yellow than they really are, and the strokes from the charcoal are a bit more distinct in the actual. The hand-coloring on top makes a very interesting look...

ouch -- a triple prod.

After a long, technology-imposed hiatus, I returned to updating Reader's Choice guide a few weeks back. I've been doing it a bit under the radar--postponing an update announcement until I make a few decisions about how to proceed. Expect an "official update" sometime in the next few days.

I still plan to follow up with a MoAL thread (I own over 50 books from that series--although I'm still missing a few).

As for the three Moby's, I've been meaning to write this up for quite a while, now (keep prodding, wailo -- it keeps me "on task").
