Looking for the title of a book I read in the 80's. It was about a girl (probably 12 or so) that went to stay with her grandmother. She can't go swimming due to the polio outbreak. She reads signs on poles left by hobos traveling in the area. Many stop by her granmother's house because the sign on her pole says she is a nice woman that will fix them a meal whereas the neighbor is a mean woman. I want to say there were also some twins her age in the neighborhood that had nice new bicycles. Please help!!! :-)

I remember this book! She wants a bike like her friends' bikes with fat tires, but she gets a slim racing bike. And there's a club initiation that results in everyone squatting in the bushes and they get poison ivy. The name is on the tip of my tongue.

I've got it! It was called I Would If I Could. I loved that book when I was a kid.
