We had a garden picture thread last year. It just seems appropriate to have another one this year. Kath's porch pictures were the inspiration to broaden the category.

#3 What a wonderful view, with the water and all - so cool.

I'm going to take a picture of my very boring back garden for a contrast!

Ooooh, a fishing lake in the back yard--that's what I want! Lovely, Jean.

OK, here's my version of "porching" location, in my backyard. Not too bad for weather today - overcast but comfy temps. Nice for building a potting bench (my niece, bless her heart) and mowing the lawn (me, of course.)

So now, after a little more cleaning up, and getting ready for the dreaded Monday: I'll be reading.

Here's a picture of my front porch, which faces east. My rattan chairs wore out a couple of years ago, and I've been trying to replace them with something new that doesn't take up a lot of room (the porch is long but not all that wide) but lets me put my feet up. I was fortunate to find this set at Target, on the very week that they were on sale for 40% off, earlier this year--very comfy and very practical. Those footstools slide right in under the chair when not in use.

very inviting, the both of them!

I saw those chairs. Very clever design. I almost bought, but really don't have the right place for them.

Under construction... Two years ago when I bought the house, this was a lawn strewn with weeds:

Container gardens! A great invention, IMHO. Looks like you've made some good progress.

Square foot gardening! Woo hoo!

Very Nice pictures everyone. I wish I had something to post but considering all the weeds I have and the stuff piled on my front porch I really don't think they look inviting.

16: :-) I spent an exhausting weekend weeding, then strategically directed the camera to capture the rare moment. Coincidental timing. Otherwise I wouldn't've posted either.

My niece did a big weeding job for me, and I'll do some extra wonderful child caring for her. Yea! Bartering!

Hey! I did a big weeding job for my niece! funny :)

I will take some pics soon... my glories are climbing.. maybe I will take some in progress pics. Dan finally put up the lattice at the end of my porch.. no climbing has yet begun...

That is funny, Kath. Your niece is a lucky girl. What will she be doing for you?

I love the idea of this thread but confess my front porch while covered with morning glories and next to a huge butterfly bush has not been given much attention. No, its the eight puppies getting all the attention. Lovely pictures though, all so inviting for our summer reads.

Pictures of puppies are welcome as well!

She lets me babysit the nephlet, Oliver.

We had huge lightning stors two mornings ago.. very early.
He woke up and told her that his windows were blinking and it scared him..
he is a trip..

Here was my patio on about the one occasion this summer when it was warm and dry enough to sit out.

Now that September is here and we are officially in Autumn, there goes another year when the outdoor furniture got very little use!

A very nice porch. I never got any pictures of my porches this year. Maybe next year... I do have pictures of animals... :)
