I loved this book. I came to care about all of the characters and I couldn't wait to see what was coming up around the corner with Edith and her son's travels and travails looking for 'the papa'. The writing is beautifully done and this reader did not want this one to end.
I am not going to review the book as Soupdragon has done it so beautifully on the book page. But I too, found it to be everything I desire in a read. So well done and the characters were so interesting. Loved the part with the handicapped singer. Just so colorful. A wonderful book. Read it. I gave it 4 1/2 stars.

Oh, it was a great book! Mum grew up in that corner of southern western Australia (where the book opens), so I immediately sent it on to her, and she (and her sister) all loved it too.

I've been meaning to read the original epic Gilgamesh ever since...

I ordered it wookie, as soon as I was about 1/3 of the way into the book. Fascinating stuff. I did love this book. And how great that all three of you were able to enjoy the same book.

I finished Gilgamesh a couple of days ago, and I was so impressed that this was a debut book! It was very fast-paced, and I loved following Edith on her travels. She's braver than me! Here's my review.

Yay, another Gilgamesh fan! The Good Parents is well worth reading too.

So glad you liked it Jill. Gilgamesh was a 4 1/2 star read for me. I loved it and had to run right out and purchase the original mythological one. Yea!~! as Soup says!~!
