1 True life crime story, think it had NIGHT or DARK(NESS) in the title.
2 Read it about 10-12 years ago.
3 Told by Asst English(?) Professor at US university whose mother rings her one evening to say Do you remember X who briefly at school with you, well she's been found sexually abused and murdered by a serial killer.
4 Girl remembered as bit wild, something of a mystery. Prof retraces her life and how she came to meet the killer.
5 Chilling and very moving book. So annoyed I can't remember title or author!
