I'm actually trying to help a friend find a book she's remembering but misplaced and cannot remember the title or author of...
Fiction book, probably no older than the 1980's, possibly from the 90's. (Was read about 10 years ago.)
The story was about an overwhelmed housewife/mother who ends up (through magical powers I think?) helping others in her life succeed. There is a neighbor kid that babysits for her and helps her throw dinner parties and the like. There is also another Lady who acts as a sort of mentor/guide to the main character in domestic endeavors.
The 'fantasy' aspect of the book seems to have been fairly secondary to the overall story. (My friend cannot remember any specifics of that particular part of it.)
