Is anyone interested in having a LibraryThing chess tournament? We could use one of the many free online chess sites. (My brother and I play on www.redhotpawn.com, which I find very easy to use, but I am sure others have suggestions for good sites.)

I could play a tournament. The games at redhotpawn look more like electro-postal games, with time controls in terms of days, rather than minutes (or seconds). That's not a problem.

If you wanted to play a realtime game or tourney, I would recommend the ICC (Internet Chess Club) at chessclub.com. You have to be a member to pick your own handle or use some of the other features, but guests play for free. The trick is finding each other when your name is automatically assigned.

FYI, I'm a member, and my handle is "skeptic." I wanted that one for LT, too, but it was already taken.

I would prefer a non-real-time game with a limit of, say, two days per move. But let's see what people are interested in. We could always do both.

Sounds good to me. Let's see if anyone else is listening.

Hmm. It doesn't look like anyone is listening, does it?

No, it doesn't.

Do you want to play a non-timed game on redhotpawn or another site? My username is doctorrobert there, too.

I would love to. I've just now registered with the handle, "skippersan" to make things easy.

I see that you are currently not accepting challenges with timeouts of 7 days or more. So, why don't you set whatever parameters you want and challenge me?

So, umm...

What's up doc? My first move already got you stumped? There's more where that one came from!

:-)
