What do you think of Villefort's decision to imprison Dantes? He believes Dantes has been unfairly accused, but at the same time he fears for his own father's life.

I didn't view Villefort's decision to imprison Dantes as a move to save his father. I felt it was more to save Villefort's own reputation. This is what makes it so unforgivable.

Villefort's actions, as an arm of the law, destroying evidence and then shipping him off, was truly horrible. But look at how he buried that baby (did he think it was dead?). This did not seem to be one instance of extremely poor judgment with him.
