I started the year off with two really great books: the two german parts that make up A Game of Thrones. I really delved into it from the first pages onwards and couldn't put it down. I read until late in the nights and also dreamt of the protagonists, spinning the story further and thinking about their destinies. Although there is no real thread the stories are just attention grabbing and although I've read that the author is not yet at the end (within 4 thick books), I'm sure I'll go on. What I like so much about this series is the ever changing point of view (with every new chapter) and that people, although probably important, just die or do stupid things. Recommended to everyone who likes fantasy!

Well look at that, someone else that started 2012 with two books from A Song of Ice and Fire :)

I'm reading the second part of Book 3 right now and I gotta say it only gets better and better - so keep at it! There are 5 books btw, the latest one got released somewhere late 2011 (A dance with dragons).

Yes, in USA and probably UK there are 5. In Germany they are up to 9 by now and will be more soon, because they've cut each of the original works in two. So the first two books I've read are just the one A Game of Thrones. :D

It's just two months of the year and I've almost done 1/5 of my goal - wow!
The last three books I read were the Millenium-Trilogy. I enjoyed them, especially the last book with the trial. But to be honest, I expected more of those book. They were quite good, but I've read more catchy books. But I really loved the trial in the end and also Lisbeth, although she was a bit difficult and strange, but she is somewhat of a lovely little thing. That can easily be seen by the many people that helped her.

Currently I'm reading a german crime novel, set in some provincial area and written quite dialectal. It is funny and entertaining but so far I am not sure what the crime is. but I like it!

I've hit the half-line so to say: 26 books so far this year and it's still more than half a year to go! I've read a lot of library books lately and didn't make much progress on my BOMBS challenge this year. I hope itl'll become better Thema next months, but who knows?
So far I've read a lots of mystery and crime novels this year, some of which were really good (Miss Julia), gut others were just okay. I've also read some other books, like the forgotten Garden which I liked very much. I hope the second half of my reading year will be as good and satisfying!

Still, more than half a year left, but I've managed to read 35 books already! the time spend it each da for going to work really gives me the opportunity to finish loads of books! Unfortunately, I have been reading lots of library books and new books, so my BOMBS are looking pretty bad... But still it's a great feeling to getting so much books read!

I just finised The Wrong Man by John Katzenbach. I got this via a swap meet, because I sought books for my father. Since he isn't reading very much, I wanted to make sure it was right for him and read it beforehand. It turned out to be a good move, because the book disappointed me. It started off really great and I was fascinated straight away, it had suspense and realley hold my attention. but then it somehow got slow and boring. Towards the end I couldn't really understand why the characters where working out a plan just as they did, but it appeared to me, that they should have tried just shooting the Stalker and say it was self-defence. Provoke a clash, provoke him to come into the house and then kill him. Would've been way easier and much safer than shooting his father and saying he was it... Well, I will definitely not give this book to my father.

I also recently read Familienpackung by a german author. It was okay. It was very fast read because it was fluff all over and I picked it up because we were at my parents-in-law in spe house and I ran out of reading material an it was the only book available. I'd say it is a modern Evelyn Sanders and I always enjoyed such household-and-child books. it wasn't very impressive, it didn't give me much to think about nor did it make me laugh out loud but it was a cosy, nice little read and I think I will try out some more books of this author.

Yes! Three months towards the end of the year I've reached my goal of 50 books for the year! Recently I've read rather a lot new books that I earned through various swapping pages. But since I didn't compleze my BOMBS-challenge this year and there are still several months left in 2012 I'll continue counting. Maybe I'll reach the 60-books-marks?

I've been neglecting this thread a little bit regardng updates, but I'm proud to anounce that I've been able to break the 60s mark! Actually I have read 62 books so far and hope to finish just another one before the year ends.
It has been a great reading year with good books, lots of fun in reading books aloud with my boyfriend and reaching my goal in this yhallenge as well as in the BOMBS-challenge. I will definitely be on board again next year!
