England, lit fic, newer, at a party

Hello -- I think this book came out just in the last year or so. As near as I can remember from reviews the story involves a man who closets himself in a bedroom not his own at a (cocktail?) party and refuses to come out. All the other guests, household members, etc., eventually go to talk to him and... I don't know what's revealed! All I know is when I read the reviews I was interested!
