Famed boxing trainer Angelo Dundee died February 1 at the age of 90. He was the author of My View from the Corner and I Only Talk Winning.

Polish Nobel prize winning poet Wislawa Szymborska died February 1 at the age of 88. A few of her collections include Here, View with a Grain of Sand, That's What We Live For and Questions Put To Myself.

Actor Ben Gazzara died February 3 at the age of 81. His memoir was called In the Moment.

AP correspondent George Esper stayed behind to cover the fall of Vietnam. He later became a professor of journalism at West Virginia University. He died February 2 at the age of 79. He was the author of Eyewitness History of the Vietnam War.

Science fiction author John Christopher nee Samuel Christopher Youd, died February 3 at the age of 89. A few of his many books include The Tripods Trilogy, The White Mountains, The City of Cold and Lead and The Pool of Fire.

British childbirth guru Betty Parsons died February 1 at the age of 96. She was the author of Preparing for Childbirth and The expectant Father.

Jeffrey Zaslow, bestselling author of The Last Lecture, The Girls from Ames, Highest Duty with the Miracle on the Hudson pilot Chesley Sullenberger, as well as the new book on Gabby Giffords Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope, lost control of his car on a snowy Michigan road and was hit by a semi and died on February 10. He was only 53.

Hungarian playwright and politician Istvan Csurka died Ferbruary 4 at the age of 77.

Reformed rabbi W. Gunther Plaut died February 8 at the age of 99. A few of his many books include The Torah: A Modern Commentary and The Haftarah Commentary.

Civil rights reformer Patricia Stephens Due died February 7 at the age of 72. She co-wrote, with her novelist daughter Tananarive Due, Freedom in the Family.

Pulitzer prize winning New York Times foreign correspondent Anthony Shadid died February 16, at the age of 43, while on assignment in Syria, of an apparent asthma attack. He was the author of Legacy of the Prophet, Night Draws Near and House of Stone: A Memoir of Home, Family and a Lost Middle East.

Former advisor to Pres. Johnson, Harry McPherson died February 16 at the age of 82. His memoir ws called A Political Education.

Oral historian Ronald Fraser died February 10 at the age of 81. A few of his books include Blood of Spain, In Hiding: The Life of Manuel Cortes, In Search of a Past: The Rearing of an English Gentleman and Napoleon's Cursed War.

Adventurer John Fairfax, who rowed across both the Atlantic and the Pacific, died February 8 at the age of 74. He was the author of Rowing Alone Across the Atlantic and Oars Across the Pacific.

Historian M.R.D. Foot died February 18 at the age of 92. A few of his many books include SOE, The Special Operations Executive 1940-46, SOE in France and British Foreign Policy Since 1898.

Jan Berenstain creater of the Berenstain Bears died February 24 at the age of 88. Her son spoke of her on NPR this week. I'll try to come back with the link.

When we were young my best friend built a virtual shrine to Davy Jones in her bedroom. The diminuitive Monkee's real dream was to be a jockey instead of being in a boy band. He died February 29 at the age of 66. His memoir was called They Made a Monkee Out of Me. I want to be a Daydream Believer! *sniff*

Southern gothic author William Gay died February 23 at the age of 70. A few of his books include The Long Home, Provinces of Night, and I Hate to See that Evening Sun Go Down.

Theologian William Hamilton died February 28 at the age of 88. He was co-author of Radical Theology and the Death of God.

Last of the WWII official artists Leonard Rosoman died February 21 at the age of 98.

One of the illustrators of the Batman comics, Sheldon Moldoff died February 29 at the age of 91.

Author Benedict Freedman died February 24 at the age of 92. He wrote Mrs. Mike which was made into a movie. He also wrote The Search for Joyful and Kathy Little Bird.
