My grandmother had this book and read it to me in the late 40s and/or early 50s. It was about bears who had a busy day working on the farm. I think bears, farm, busy and workday or workaday may have been in the title. It was a hardback brownish book with bears on the cover, I think.

Found it! It's called Work-a-Day Doings On The Farm. It was written in 1916 by Emma Seri. It was a first grade reader. There is a picture of the cover on Google Books and the book is a free download. Wonderful to see the illustrations I remember from my childhood. My grandmother passed away when I was nine so the last time she read it to me must have been at least 56 years ago!
