Horror about a woman who had healing powers. She had twin boys but had to give one of them up. The boys grew up, one going to work at a circus and the other became a healer. Things start stalking them. That's all I remember except that at seventeen I found it scary. I read it new between 1988-1990. Thanks.

Sounds a bit like a Dean Koontz novel. But, I checked all the items he had published between 88-90 and they don't fit.
