I read this in second grade (I have no idea why; it was intended for high schoolers), which would put it around '94 - '95ish.
It had a yellow hardcover and lots of black and white pictures (though I seem to recall the pages being somewhat yellowish, so I guess the pictures would have been black and yellow).
It was everything you could possibly want to know about fingerprinting; the different patterns of fingerprints, the different chemicals used in fingerprinting, the process, databases, etc.
