I am looking for a Historical Romance book that I read a few years ago. It is about a girl who marries an older man and on their wedding night he accidentally stabs her with his knife before he dies. Everyone assumes that the blood from the wound was from the marriage being consummated even though it wasn't. She is forced to stay until they find out if she is pregnant or not. The older man had a nephew (maybe) that had given her a flower(maybe) and she was walking outside with it at one point. She ends up with the nephew even after he finds out she is still a virgin. I believe I read it some time in 2008.

If anyone has any idea it would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!!

The guy is really upset that she didn't tell the truth right away that she was still a virgin

I'm probably wrong; for some reason, I'm thinking of The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. It would be only a small part of the story if I'm recalling correctly.
Please let us know when you've found it.

Any idea of era/setting? Medieval, Regency, ??? Sounds more medieval, but I'm not sure.

It's not The Red Tent . . . the story of Dina and Shalem has a few similarities to the OP's summary, but this is definitely a different book.

I am reasonably sure it is Medieval in setting. I keep trying to remember more details.

Could it be Set Free My Heart by: Sarah Westleigh?
The Lady Margot Could Never Reveal Her Secret
Though she had been quietly relieved to hear of the death of her husband while defending the throne of Castile, Margot soon discovered that she was still not a free woman. For the Duke of Lancaster had ordered that she accompany Sir Thomas D'evreux home to England.

Throughout their long journey, Margot found it increasingly difficult to deny the deep passion she felt for the handsome knight. Yet she could not agree to marry him, nor could she tell him the reasons why, for to do so would mean the end of the precious love that had blossomed between them.

No sadly. Thanks though. The husband is an older man and he literally dies on their wedding night before they can consumate. I think it's because of heart failure. And he accidentally stabs her with the knife on his belt and then she is kept until it can be determined if she is pregnent or not. Everyone assumes that the blood from the cut is from to consumation.

"The husband is an older man and he literally dies on their wedding night before they can consumate".

As I remember it that used to be every southern belle's fantasy.

Princess Eleanor of England, daughter of King John Lackland and Isabella of Angouleme and sister to Henry the third, married William Marshall when she was twelve. He felt she was to young and refused to consummate their marriage until she was older. They attended a wedding when she was about 16 and he said they would consummate then, when he came to her chamber and joined her in bed, he only began and he died, someone poisoned him and he died before he claimed her.

The Dragon and The Jewel by Virginia Henley

With her sapphire eyes and silken dark hair, Princess Eleanor was a bewitching beauty made for a man's pleasure. Once a child bride, but widowed at a tender age, she swore never to marry again and took a vow of eternal chastity...until Simon de Montfort marched into England and set his smoldering dark gaze upon her, King Henry's youngest sister, the royal family's most precious jewel. Bold, arrogant, and invincible, the towering Norman knight inspired awe in the bravest of men...and a reckless desire in Eleanor's untried heart.

This is bothering me, I know what book you are talking about, please let me know if you find it and tell me the name :)

Unfortunately No. Its the same concept with being wed to an old man but she ends up with his nephew or other younger heir.

I'm not sure it's Prisoner of My Desire. In POMD, Rowena does marry an older man. The older man does die before the bedding. I don't remember a stabbing. Also, there's kidnap (of the hero), forced sex, more kidnap (of the heroine), misunderstanding on the hero's part, some chasing of the pregnant heroine by the evil stepbrother, and then reconciliation.

I don't recall there being a forced sex either. Thank you for the offer though! I appreciate all the assistance!

The Deed by Lynsay Sands

This doesn't sound like The Deed. In The Deed, the husband doesn't die on the wedding night. Instead, the husband is homosexual and never consummates the marriage. When he later dies, the wife is still a virgin though she doesn't know it. Being innocent, she thought sleeping in the same bed was enough. Later, her new husband has to rush the consummation because a relative of the first husband wanted to marry her and obtain the land/wealth.

I have read The Deed and it's not that either. I appreciate all the assistance, still looking for it unfortunately.

Anyone heard of My Lady's Favor - Joanne Rock? It might be a possible option but I can't find a good description of it.

There is a preview on Google Books. The beginning is very much like your description. Before the wedding, her husband's nephew gives her a rose. Her husband accidentally stabs her with his eating knife on the wedding night and then dies before the actual consummation. Everyone assumes the blood on the sheets was from the consummation and they wait to see if she is pregnant.
