Ok so I read this book from my public library like 7 years ago, the beginning started out with a vampire guy in a band, he talks about waiting for his soul mate and while he's on stage in a bar he feels her come in, well this chick is pregnant and her story is that her baby daddy got killed so she's all alone, she also has a heart problem and when the baby comes it might kill her. So he tells her what he is and she's cool with it, well at the end he turns her after she has the baby, they do it and I think they shapeshift into the night as birds or eagles or something.
Ok so this is all I remember, please please please if anyone has any idea what I'm talking about help me out! Please! I don't think I can google any more:/

i think this is one of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Darkhunter series. Sorry I can't remember which one. The man would have been a 'Were'.

Dark Melody by Christine Feehan sounds like it fits your description (haven't read it, but fingers crossed it's the one)...
