Whoops! I forgot to start my own thread!
I finished my first Orange July book, Liars and Saints by Maile Meloy (review). It was a solid four-star read, and something I wouldn't have read had it not been nominated for the Orange Prize.
Up next: A Crime in the Neighborhood by Suzanne Berne!

Pretty picture!
I haven't heard of either of those books.

Last night, I finished A Crime In The Neighborhood, which won the 1999 prize. I thought it was excellent, though I think I liked it more than others. Here's my review if you're interested!
For Orange July book #3, I will be starting Grace Williams Says It Loud today!

Ooooh Jill, I can't wait to see your thoughts on Grace Williams Says it Loud. It has been on my wishlist for ages, but my library doesn't have it!! After your review I will know if I need to give in and buy it or wait :)

I'm doing the same thing Tina! I thought my library had this book but they don't ... Waah!

>7 TinaV95:,8: Well, ladies, I thought Grace Williams Says It Loud was an above-average read. Not sure why it didn't click with me, but I was bored in a way. However, I feel certain you both will like it better than me! Here's my review, if you're interested!
Next up: The Rehearsal by Eleanor Catton

9: Yes, interesting! I've felt a bit guilty since putting this one down after the first few pages because the writing didn't engage me but maybe I would have had the same problem if I'd continued with it.

>11 Soupdragon:, Dee, glad to read that I am not the only one! =)

Well, I'm not going to move mountains to read it this July ... maybe someday though.

I will still keep it on the wishlist, but may not buy it right away....
Thanks for your always stellar reviews, Jill!

Last night, I finished The Rehearsal (here's my review).
I think the author tried too hard to write an intelligent novel. Some of it was brilliant - other parts, contrived. An interesting story, nonetheless.
What shall I read next....Stay tuned!
ETA: I decided on reading The Giant, O'Brien by Hilary Mantel. =)

I listened to The Hundred Secret Senses in the car about ten years ago and found myself just driving around because I was so enthralled with the story.
