I can't find a group to post my question, so I'll try here. Does someone know what is the best English-Dutch and Dutch-English dictionary? Not the concise ones, but the real thing.

Short answer :

There is no single best one.

Longer answer :

As with all kinds of dictionaries, there is no single best one. It all depends on i.a. your skills, knowledge, expectations, wants, needs and purposes. That's a lot of choices !

On top of this, some translators maintain that the better way to translate is not by using a--"the best"--bilingual dictionaries set, but by using rather a variety of source language dictionaries. Apart from thorough and profound knowledge of the source language and outstanding knowledge of the target language, that is. They might be right. What's more : I think they are.

Furthermore, chances are that you 'll find more dedicated knowledge on this very topic at e.g. the LT Talk Nederlandstalige lezers group.

If you feel at ease with Dutch language, you might want to ask your question over there.
