Your last message is the same as this bug:

Possibly your first one, too, but your test case is kind of unclear.

>3 brightcopy: "Benno Besson" Benno Besson is an author with 5 copies. It is not an "other author".
P.S. 2012-09-12 testing touchstone.
P.S. 2012-09-12 testing touchstone.

That's incorrect. He's an other author on that 5 copy work:
http://www.librarything.com/work/2266733/editions
Pauken und Trompeten
by Bertolt Brecht
Other authors: Benno Besson (Author), Elisabeth Hauptmann (Author)
This is the author's only work.
You can't add a touchstone because, again, he's an other author.

>6 brightcopy: I forgot that all "views" are relative: I see /work/book/89736080 displaying as:
Jahre mit Brecht (edition 1990)
by Benno Besson, Christa Neubert-Herwig, Ulrike Jauslin-Simon
so I see it as an "main" aothor. But this is only a private view.
P.S. I should see also: "You have one work and one work ..."

When I first loaded that, it said 0 copies for the Benno Besson edition. Then I reloaded it and it said 1.
So it's hard to really tell you anything about it since you seem to be modifying it. After you've stopped, post something and maybe we can look at the stable version.
Also, Benno Besson is not the WORK author, only your BOOK author. Note that when you go to work page for that work it says:
Der Prozess der Jeanne d´Arc zu Rouen 1431 nach Anna Seghers
by Bertolt Brecht
I don't think Benno Besson would show up just because someone stuck it in their own book. But I'm a little unsure.

I pretty sure that a member having an author filled in the primary author field of a book record is precisely what causes that author to show in the search results. In this case, if the record has been recently edited it may not display until the cache catches up.
I think that author names entered on the author page CK also show in the search. As you note above, it's other authors (whether on the book or work level) that do not show in the search.
Also, I've separated Jahre mit Brecht from Der Prozess der Jeanne d´Arc zu Rouen 1431 nach Anna Seghers. They are clearly not the same work, even if I don't speak German.

Well, I suppose we'll never know now. ;)

from >7 gangleri: I posted only /work/book/89736080 and because of lack of time I did not change "book" do "details" /work/details/89736080 thinking that is trivial (but it is not for most of the users.
"details" shows that I have imported that record from "Harvard OpenMetadata" and beleive me I did not change anything related to authors and their role.

So far I assumed that the first listed author is an author known to the system. What I experienced is that I can find the works looking in my catalog as with a link as /catalog.php?author=bessonbenno (the link itself is a domain idependent permanent link).
----
/author/bessonbenno today shows for me:
Benno Besson
Author of Jahre mit Brecht
Your books
You have 1 book and 1 work by Benno Besson.
----
The link from >2 gangleri: /search.php?search=Benno+Besson shows today:
Author search: Benno Besson
Benno Besson (0)
"(0)" indicating that the work is "attributed" to another author url.

So indeed we have a problem related to the search of "other authors" beside the problem related to "near real time search" of main authors in general. Normaly "main" authors appear in the search (and any related functionality as combination, touchstones etc.) only the next day.

P.P.S.
http://opacplus.bsb-muenchen.de/search?isbn=3-908145-17-1# (showTitleActive) a record from the "Bavarian State Library"
I will add the "Other authors" later. Please "bump" if this book is no longer a testcase.

I'm sorry, but I need clearer, more focused, better written examples. I find it hard to understand what's being bugged.
