Hello everyone.
I'm trying to get the name of an author who wrote spy/adventure stories set in 1930s Southern France/Northern Spain. Pau was a town that often appeared in the stories. I used to read these books in the 1960s and would like to look at them again. They were full of mad car chases, evil spymasters an the triumph of good over evil.
Any ideas?

It has to be Dornford Yates, I think. He lived in Pau until the Germans turned up on his doorstep in 1940. The mad car chases were always in very grand open touring cars, and the characters exactly the kind of British upper-class oafs you would hate if you met them in real life...

Thank you very much. I recognised the name Dornford Yates as soon as I saw it. I'll find one of his books and try again. I was a teenager when I first read them. I wonder how I will find them now. Thanks again.
