Apparently this is not The Onion site. Apparently it is the U.S. News webpage.

They already believe that there's a huge conspiracy to pretend that the earth is getting warmer. Obviously, there must be another conspiracy to create the hurricanes that help fool us into believing the first conspiracy's claims. It all makes sense that way.

Excellent. I'm voting for the guy who can control the freaking weather.
I'd only heard about the preacher claiming it was retribution for gays and feminists.
I hope this has legs. The Burther thing has grown stale, despite the best efforts of The Donald.

Okay, I can understand that there's a few strange people who want to believe that's there's someone controlling every bad thing that happens in life. But a 'serious' news magazine actually reporting that these strange people exist, as if this is a serious, possibly credible news story?

There used to be a column for this stuff. It was called "News of the Weird."

>5 southernbooklady: I don't know about that column, but I've been reading and enjoying "This is True" which is in a similar vein of writing about a lot of he "weirder" news out there. The site is at http://www.thisistrue.com/ if you'd like to check it out.

Gah! Nice link, though...
They're all wrong, though; to be able to do all of those things AND still be President of the United States, Obama would have be Elvis, or at least reached the final stage of Elvislution.

Reasoning like some future “birther” in the USA, Gershom Scholem wrote in Kabbalah that the 13th century teacher of Abraham Abulafia, the founder of the school of "Prophetic Kabbalah", “ was the hazzan Barukh Togarmi (in Barcelona?), who, judging by his name, came from the east”.

Chalk it up to antiquity (my own -- the World is on its own), but I don't get what you're driving-at. Perhaps I was detained too long on the other side of the Slonimsky Meridian. Clarification, please? Thanks, and shalom. -- Goddard. PS: I met Scholem once, years ago: great fellow, even if with (or perhaps because of) his resemblance to Mel Brooks
