I have just one book by this author, The Veils of Azlaroc, and its a decent read. Ive heard about his Berserker. books but have never come across any yet. Im wondering if they would be my cup of tea, seeing as Im quite fussy about my SF , preferring hard SF and space opera, shying away from anything that reads like fantasy ( Le Guin for example) or anything with Swords in the title ( Saberhagen has a few)

I liked his Berserker short stories but the longer works did not really impress me. I found the first Swords book to be unreadable and I like some fantasy. The first two or three of his Dracula books, The Dracula Tape and An Old Friend of the Family I thought were excellent.

Seconded; the collections of Berserker short stories are well worth reading. AS for the Dracula series, it's worth reading the first five books; Thorn is the weakest but has its moments, and stop with Dominion, I know Saberhagen wrote more, but there's really no way he could improve on the climatic ending of the fifth novel.

I liked the Empire of the East series, basic science fantasy. But if you like space opera & hard SF, the Berserker books are fun too (unlike previous posters, I enjoyed the novels I read). Not at all "literature", but colorful and action oriented. There seem to be zillions of them, but I've only read a handful.

Haven't ready any of the Berserker books so far though I intend to someday.

Liked The Holmes-Dracula File, will probably pick the others in the beginning of the series if the opportunity arises.

Read some of the Swords book, IMO they haven't aged well and are better avoided unless you still love to pieces your Malloreon and don't particularly mind their fairly silly basic structure of the protagonists all being the same family of mostly royals and high mages and the like who for some reason have little better to do than go traipsing around the countryside on some errand or other.

Ill look for the Berserker stuff. The Swords books appear too high fantasy to me , my liege...

Yeah, good chance you'd like the Berserker stories then.

I enjoyed Empire of the East. The whole "sword and planet" style of "science" fantasy has always been a favorite of mine.
