Sounds fab to me - thanks for setting up the thread Ali! I have 6 of these already so it will give me a head start!

Works for me Ali. Thanks for being our trusty leader for the year. I know we all appreciate it.

Sounds great -- I will read those I haven't read yet (about 5). I'm not likely to re-read others but will still follow the conversation.

Sounds great - whoo hooo! And the Jan and July ones are both re-reads for me. I've never faced up to Quartet in Autumn so I'm glad to see it's not the last one!

Just ordered the first three on ABE, and when a certain bookstore (no, not The Title Page) opens around 10am I'll be stopping in to pick up Less Than Angels, which I'm pretty sure they have. It's a very interesting used-book store that I've been meaning to check out for ages now, so this is a good excuse.

>5 LyzzyBee:: I really liked Quartet in Autumn, despite its being rather melancholy.
>6 CurrerBell:: a perfect excuse to go shopping, imo!

Sounds good, Ali. Thank you so much for setting this up!

I'm happy to go along with the order you suggest, though if anyone wanted to avoid two reads in June I think we could leave out Civil to Strangers as it's not a full-length novel.

Off to the book people to see if they still have that 5 book set - mine is a Pym-less home at present.

I'd like to participate in this read, too, as I am a total Pym fan. A great way to read (and re-read) her.

Thanks for organizing.

This sounds great. I've been mostly absent from this group for a while now, but I could really use some Barbara Pym!

I apologize if this has been covered already, but I was wondering about including A Very Private Eye, her autobiography assembled from diaries and letters.

I was planning to read the Hazel Holt and Very Private Eye: maybe they should be "floaters" that we can be free to read and discuss throughout the year, with their own thread each to play in?

That's an excellent idea, I had been thinking of doing that too.

OK, I'm in. I have several Pyms, and have read a few already. I failed miserably with Elizabeth Taylor this year, after getting off to a decent start. I hope to do better with Barbara.

I failed miserably with Elizabeth Taylor too but I am not working on any plays this spring or teaching so I hope to catch some of the Pym reads. It will be nice to catch up with some here after being too busy for too long.

I've never read Barbara Pym, so I ordered the first one on the list from Amazon. I'm in for January -- then we'll see.
