I've recently been chatting some with a little 11yr old girl on another site, who is a reader. I mentioned that I always pick up a couple comic books/GNs when I go to the library, and now she's curious about them. Most of what I read is far too mature for her age, but I figure Mouse Guard and Mice Templar could be alright, and Coraline. She's pretty interested in fantasy/magical stuff.
Anyone have anything I could suggest to her? Other Gaiman fantasy GNs for kids? Who else is good in that sub-genre? Feel free to suggest non-fantasy suitable for pre-teens also, of course. She reads more than just that. :)

Redwall: The Graphic Novel - I didn't really care for it, but I gather Redwall is a fairly popular series. Also features mice so would pair nicely with the ones you suggested.
Babymouse - Might be too young for her actually. More mice. Not so much fantasy, more of the typical kid stuff but the main character has a vivid imagination so it might work.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid - sort of a hybrid between chapter book and graphic novel. Again, I wasn't thrilled but I'm not the target audience and apparently this series is incredibly popular. Obviously not a fantasy; more everyday kid stuff.
A Christmas Carol (Campfire Graphic Novels) - seems appropriate for the season, if she celebrates Christmas. The ghosts make it fantasy-ish. (Touchstones won't go to the correct version so here it is.)
The Arrival - some elements of fantasy; completely graphic novel with no words beyond the title. Seems to be pretty popular.
Timothy And The Transgalactic Towel - short fantasy/sci-fi GN. I found it entertaining.
Gothic Classics: Graphic Classics Volume 14 - This one is the biggest reach. It contains lots of shortened works ranging from Poe to Austen (Northanger Abbey) with elements of fantasy, mostly ghost stories. I'm not sure if all of it is appropriate/interesting to an 11-year-old.

She actually just mentioned watching A Christmas Carol and not knowing it was a book, lol, so I will def recommend the GN for it! Thanks for the suggestions, I'm sure she'll appreciate it :)

Foiled by Jane Yolen! It's perfect for what you want, and I enjoyed it.

Seconding Foiled, especially because the sequel Curses! Foiled Again comes out soon.
Also Broxo, Bone, Hereville, Zita the Spacegirl, and The Golden Twine.
Plus anything by Hope Larson or Gene Luen Yang.

Most kids are into manga. There are mangas for girls like Cardcaptor Sakura or Sailormoon. Their anime are pretty good, with some fantasy elements.
Regarding the Bone recommendation, I once read that Bone is the best weapon to drive your girlfriend into comics and, actually, it worked for me!:) My now wife loves it.
