Chat Room News: 2013

First Friday for a chat in 2013! There are a few of us who try from time to time to show up in the Green Dragon's chat room on Friday evenings. All you do is go to the Green Dragon home page and on that page scroll down until you find the bold lettered Chat Room and click on it. It should take you there. The place to put your words is at the bottom. If you have more questions you can post them here or send me a PM.

Friday, January 4th, I'll try to be there around about 8 pm Green Dragon (LibraryThing) time.

We had a great turn out this evening and a fun chat, too. Even talked about wines, and beers, and grape juices.

I'm sorry I missed everyone. I had a nice evening out with friends. Maybe next week.

I think that is about 2 AM on Saturday morning for me, so will never happen :(

I missed you guys again. I went to the high school basketball game. My nephew played in the Pep Band.

I dropped in for a bit. I ended up installing and using mIRC to chat because I made the mistake of Xing out of the FireFox window and trying to log in using Chrome and the server wouldn't allow me access.

So, I was in chat for a few minutes using FireFox. What I did not have was the ability to change the size of the font. My eyes are just not up to reading the small print, so I quit and went to bed. I hope at some point chat will allow me to enlarge the font.

#21 Good point about font size. I really dislike the new chat interface, and am looking into alternatives.

Wow - people are having real trouble with chat in the new format.

At this point, the Java chat WORKS and has for YEARS, so I am going to go back to it. If I can find a WORKING non-Java one, I will use it.

Yay! I love the idea of going back to Java.

While we are back to Java, I am doing a major upgrade of my system (remember, chat is a side task of the computer on which it runs - the primary purpose of the computer is to serve my wife's business affairs.)

I hope to be done with it by this evening, but chat today will definitely be something iffy

OK, it is Friday, and I think I successfully downloaded a new Java and I hope I'll be able to be in chat in a little while. Please.

Hope not everyone has been discouraged away from even trying. I was for a while thinking Chat was a goner. But maybe not.

When it asks you if you want to Run it, as long as it says greendragon at the beginning of the string, click YES!

I still can't get in the chat room. I've followed the instructions so I'm not sure what's going on. I have a new laptop with Windows 8. Is that the problem? I'm using the desktop mode to try to open chat.

What are you using IE or FF or Chrome?

Do you have your Java disabled? (I did! LOL)

I am sorry Bluesally, that I've not been around. First cataract surgery on Wednesday went well however the eye which was not fixed was the one which sees words on screens and pages the worst. Gawk. So I see well to drive, and clean house, etc. but not so much in the computer or in books. Will be doing eye two, too, as soon as possible. I will return.

I swung by to see if anyone was here.

I couldn't get in...guess the door is locked. :(

I just checked, olive_spread. I couldn't get the door open all the way using Firefox. I could see all the smiley faces, but there was nothing else. Then I tried signing in using Chrome and it worked easily. So it might be a browser issue.

yes, I went in earlier today using Safari and it worked fine. I hope you are able to figure it out.

I was about to get in tonight...I had it blocked.

What does that mean? Did you block it yourself? There is that warning that you are entering an unknown site which might be "dangerous" but since I know the a LibraryThinger mounted it, I always just "take the risk". Never had a problem. Is that maybe where the problem is?

You had it right the first time....a little too much protection. I blocked it myself. There was nothing wrong from Green Dragon pov.
