My reading plan for this year is 75 x2 :) - at least 25 books to be from my own shelves, and I want to read at least 15 non-fiction. I'm also participating in the 2013 Category Challenge - using categories selected from my personal library, i.e., randomly selected tags from my non-fiction books. I read a lot of genre fiction generally - science fiction, fantasy, mystery and suspense, and one of my goals this year is to mix it up a little bit - well, to at least read more non-fiction. :P

Some of the non-fiction on my TBR -

- The Undressed Art: Why We Draw by Peter Steinhart
- The Creative Habit: Learn It and Use It for Life by Twyla Tharp
- The Merry Heart: Reflections on Reading Writing & the World of Books by Robertson Davies
- The Library at Night by Alberto Manguel
- Standing at Water's Edge: Moving Past Fear, Blocks, and Pitfalls to Discover the Power of Creative Immersion by Anne Paris
- The Future of Ice: A Journey Into Cold by Gretel Ehrlich
- The Ice Museum: In Search of the Lost Land of Thule by Joanna Kavenna
- In the Palm of Your Hand: The Poet's Portable Workshop by Steve Kowit
- The Sounds of Poetry: A Brief Guide by Robert Pinsky
- The Poetics of Space by Gaston Bachelard
- Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain

And some of the fiction I'm planning to read . . .

- The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
- Best Served Cold by Joe Abercrombie
- The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco
- Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke
- The Hobbit by J R R Tolkien
- In The Forests of Serre by Patricia A. McKillip
- The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
- Consider Phlebas by Iain M. Banks
- Accelerando by Charles Stross

Welcome! Good start to the year. Quiet is one of those books I keep hearing about that I need to get on my TBR.

Kerrie, you have some great books in that list (which I should stop clicking on and reading about!). Good luck with the challenge. I am also hoping for 150 books this year, and trying to increase my non-fiction.

I just finished Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking and really liked it. I think a lot of that came from the feeling of these are my people as I'm a pretty typical introvert. It is always good to hear that I'm not the only one. What do you think of it?

#5 Thanks drneutron!

#7 KarenElissa - I'm just a couple of chapters into Quiet: the power of introverts in a world that can't stop talking but I'm really enjoying it. I do a lot of nodding while I'm reading it. :P

#6 Thanks susanj67! 150 books shouldn't be too difficult to manage as I can inhale fiction some days. :) The non-fiction part will be trickier. I read lots of N-F last year, but it was a cherry-picker method, looking up things, reading a chapter here and there - only managed to read five cover to cover though. Maybe I'll have better results this year if I keep a N-F book next to whatever fiction I'm currently reading - keep it in front of me so I won't forget. lol Good luck to you on reading 150 and on increasing your non-fiction reading as well.
