The only people surprised by the eye roll are men. I have no doubt that the President himself has been on the other end of the First Lady's eye roll now and again. Like Mr. Boehner, he probably has no clue as to what he said to percipitate an eye roll. What woman hasn't done the eye roll when listening to a man ? What man hasn't gotten the eye roll himself ? and is totally clueless as to WHY he got the eye roll ?
By the way...Boehner did keep tapping on her arm...her body language was pretty clear....it matched the eye roll. Men...do not tap on a woman when she is in mid eye roll.

This is no mystery.....at least not to the female population.

Men can roll their eyes pretty well, too. It's not gender related.

One of my woman friends said last evening that it has become a chonic condition for her. I know several others who would admit the same.

Since her eyeroll translates into "he has not got a clue". I am not surprised to hear he said, "I don't have clue"

#2,

Yes, men can roll their eyes as well. But we tend to go with the blinking eyes followed by the blank stare of incomprehension.

I was amused by the eye roll.

I perform it frequently, at work and at home.

Teenage boys can be cured of eye-roll. Parent must feign great concern with the problem son is apparently having with his eyes: "Does it hurt? Maybe we should make appointment with the doctor?", peering closely at the offending eye. Eventually, kid laughs. One or two "treatments" and voila, one has effected a cure! {;>

Well, Boehner can, on this matter at least, count on the support of 40+ % of the population...

>8 BruceCoulson:: Is that the 47% who sit on their duffs and are too lazy to help out their wives with the chores? You know, the "takers" who expect the government their wives to do everything for them?

>9 nathanielcampbell:
Nope the eye roll is not chore related. It has nothing to do with "takers" or wives doing everything for husbands....has more to do with the obvious......at least what is obvious to women.....

>2 RidgewayGirl: My husband isn't prone to eye rolling but he is pretty good at the "stink eye" . When he winds up and throws one at me ..... he gets an eye roll or two.

Seriously, got the impression that Ms Obama isn't all the fond of Boehner.....although he could have been talking about a subject she isn't very fond of. Wonder where her eyes go when he starts crying during public speeches ?

>10 faceinbook:: You might get fewer stink eyes if, instead of dancing around and saying, "at least what is obvious to women....", you actually came out and said what the problem is.

Rather than rolling your eyes at us, tell us what the problem is. Obviously, we don't get it; you think you do. So stop the coy and cloying eye-rolling and just come out with it already!

Eye-rolling is immature and annoying. No one should be doing it.

Wow... so the policing of women's bodies now extends to eye movements!

I'd add a sarcastic "what's next?" followup, but I honestly can't think of any way to take this further.

you could roll your eyes in front of a webcam.

Do you think Ms Clinton would like to roll her eyes ??

Some men just "beg" for the eye roll. Why should women have to point out the obvious ? Isn't that akin to doing all the chores ?

http://www.upworthy.com/hillary-clinton-eviscerates-tea-party-senator-for-missin...

In this one Ms Clinton does a good job of tongue rolling.
On a serious note.....what ARE the Republicans trying to get at here ? I do not believe that Ms Rice mislead anyone, I think she said what she was told to say. I think perhaps we were not given full disclosure as to what was going on immediately but I have no clue what the protocol is when something like this happens. I wonder how many individuals do understand what is supposed to happen. Obviously information can not be leaked that will make the situation worse. It is my belief based on what I've heard that the fault for this, if a fault can be assigned, goes to both parties. They were asking for more security in Benghazi, it seems that the Democratic party in charge basically ignored the requests, however the budget to fund security was cut by Republican insistance. It would seem that Ms Clinton is correct...we can not go backwards and fix the situation. Kind of nonproductive looking at how the information was presented when they should be looking at why the situation happened in the first place.
What do the Republican's want ?

Ugh. Why are we doing this "all women roll their eyes at their lazy husbands who don't do their fair share of the chores" and men who complain about the money their wives spend on shoes? faceinbook, if you'd like to vent about a specific person, that's fine, but don't turn it into broad stereotypes. Michelle Obama's not a powerless housewife. Boehner probably remembers to put the seat down. Obama rolled her eyes at something we didn't hear. I think you're trying to make more of this than is needful.

>12 barney67:
LOL Are you serious ? Nothing is as rewarding as a good eye roll. Look at how many people noticed...and what fun it has been ever since she did it......Wonder what the statistics are on eye rolls. If polled how many people would say it shouldn't be done.
Heck, I don't like the way men jingle change in their pockets when they feel nervous....kind of immature and annoying...nobody should be doing it.

Really ?
I didn't say all women......I did not bring up the chores or spending money...It is meant to be funny....and it is, at least to some individuals. Funny that she did it, funny that we are talking about......funny that the media brought it up....and even better....call me racist if you will....but one is never in a hundred years going to sit in room full of Black women and not experience a whole lot of eye rolling. (this is based on personal experience) Another stereo type ? Stereo types are used by comedians because they are funny...they are only funny if they hold an element of truth.
This was meant to be funny. You did this once before....took everything every body added to the conversation and threw it at me....admonishing me for bringing it up. I don't remember the specifics but it was another time when it wasn't meant as a personal attack. OR as meaning "every woman" or "every man" just enough so that it is amuzing or frustrating or what ever. I am sorry if I offended you.....however, with out humor life REALLY sucks ... I like funny....I do not intend to hurt anyone.

Nor do I intend to close my eyes to the humor in any given situation. Would be a very harsh life.

My mistake. I had thought you were making a general comment, rather than a specific one about a specific individual.

Boehner 'begs' for a lot more than a simple eye-roll, from many more people than the First Lady.

Humor !!! Again, sorry if you don't see the humor in this situation....I find it extremely funny. I am not attacking anyone OR everyone. Geez ! Again, I do hope that Nathaniel did not feel attacked ....not my objective.

You do realize that men and women are different in some very amusing and profound ways ? Men communicate differently than women ..... Both sides tend to get frustrated...this lack of communication is often used in humor because it is often FUNNY ! Laughing at it is far less stressful and destructive than getting frustrated or angry.
And if Nathaniel asked me face to face to explain something I would most certainly do so......
Ah....heck with it ! Not so funny any more.

Wonder what the guy is like personally ? Do not know much about him other than his political persona. Wonder if politics is the only thing that makes him cry ?
