I read this book in the late 80's maybe early 90's. I think there was a series where girls time traveled to different eras. The one I am looking for is about a girl who goes back to the South during the civil war era. I think she meets someone she is related to. I also think that there is a book from the series where a girl travels back to the 1960's. I have no idea on a title or author. I have burned up Google trying to locate these books. Any help would be much appreciated. :-)

Maybe the Magic Attic Series? Not sure if there was ever a Civil War book in the series but there was a Revolutionary War one, Megan's Masquerade. And the other one you're thinking of might be Heather and the Pink Poodles.

I don't think those were it, but thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I have searched a ton for this book with no luck. I was hoping it might ring a bell with someone else. :-)

Perhaps "The Root Cellar" by Janet Lunn? A girl goes back in time to the Civil war after she enters a root cellar- can't remember if she meets relatives from the past or not.

4> As far as I know, The Root Cellar isn't part of a series. Hope you find it, Nikki, because I'd like to read it too!

It's not part of a series, but one of the classics in this genre is Kindred by Octavia Butler - a damn good book about a woman who goes back in time, to when her ancestor was a slave ... and her other ancestor was the white child of the slave-owning family. The timing is possible -- Kindred was published in 1979.

I think I have it! Is it the Swept Away series by Eileen Goudge? I think the Southern Belle one is called "Gone With the Wish" and the Sixties one is called "Woodstock Magic." I loved these books when I was a pre-teen.
Jalual - I totally read the Root Cellar, and I thought of that one at first, too. That was a good one.
