How to Study with Mind Maps: The Concise Learning Method for Students and Lifelong Learners -Toni Krasnic

I first was introduced to the use of Mind Maps in an English class a long time ago and used the a mind map to set up my website and other projects but never for study purposes. This book goes beyond the simple mind map and shows how in step-by-step directions how to use the technique for studying. What is exceptional about this book is that he uses a case study where you make a mind maps on a actual Chemistry chapter and lesson. I really suggest you do not skip this part because it will help you understand the technique better than just reading the steps. I only wish I had known this technique when I studied Chemistry since I made a lot of rote memory cards to learn and pass chemistry. I am not sure it would have helped me memorize the periodic table but maybe if I did not have to do the rote memory on the other topics I would had done better and been more of an engaged, and efficient learner. The book provides a lot of link for further study and I suggest utilizing them as well. Included are links to mind map software which really brings the mind maps to another level. I look forward to using it on many project especially on the book I have been writing that uses a lot of historical information.

When Life Throws Mud on You Kiss a Poodle: 25 Ways to Overcome Life's Hard Knocks-Janine Michaels

This is a motivational book that is a good read but is also a short read so you can read it in a short time and have it available when you need a quick pick-me-up. The book gives you more ways to deal with negative emotions and thoughts. So when life gives you lemons make lemonade and read this book.

I read for the two hour trip most of the way to and from Kansas City today on the Kindle. I read about 10% of Les Miserables- Victor Hugo and Kitchen Rhythm=Frances Leech. A short autobiography of her for on year at a french bakery. An interesting read. Les Miserable is going to take some time to read since it is 27005 pages but it is hard to put down.

This book was only 14 pages but had some great tips to learn how to speed read. Some I knew about before but the author had some original ideas.

I finished The curious incident of the dog in the night-time-Mark Haddon. This book follows a young boy named Christopher who
symptoms and behavior suggest he has a mild form of autism.

I am getting a little behind here with this long read and lots to do. This was a good book although I liked A Fine line better.

I have not been on this site for a month but I Have been reading. Not as much as before since the garden is in full swing.
I am still reading Les Miserable and have only read 11% and starting Chapter 3. It is different than I expected but so far good. I finally got a local library card. I just had a Fort Riley one and that library is so small. So now I can read books on my Kindle from the library. So nice. The first one I checked out was a gardening book.

Amish Prayers

I have not read a Beverly Lewis book in a while and saw this one in the library ebook. This book was not what I expected since she usually writes fiction. It is a book of Amish/Mennonite prayers. It was interesting to me since my Grandparents on my fathers side were Mennonites. Very nice prayers that use bible passages.

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender

This book is a little hard to explain but it is an interesting read. I suppose you could say this is about a dysfunctional family but their is really more to it that that. Strange events are happening with the family. One girl begins tasting emotional feelings when she eats and her brother keeps disappearing. A grandmother who will not travle and does not like visitors keeps sending household items. This is a strange book.

Wow, there are a lot more people on this list now. I had to do a search to find myself. lol

I have another library ebook to list. More of a how to book with some entertaining tidbits. If you enjoy gardening and what to try some thing difference then this book might be for you. It really well written and covered a lot of information like what plants would be the best. I am really tempted to buy it.

This classic novel is well worth the time to read the 2,783 pages. Be prepared since the novel gets off the plot to
addresses other topics from cloistered religious orders, the construction of the Paris sewers, argot, and the street urchins of Paris.

Just finished A visit from the goon squad. It was another book I really did not care about. I also read Always know what to say. This free kindle book had some very good ideas. I plan to keep it in my kindle library to read again. I am now taking a little bit of a detour from the 1001 Books to read and reading another Beverly Lewis book, a text book and a business book.

This book was very much the style of Beverly Lewis but was about a young Amish boy that fell in love with and Englisher. Nice easy to read story.

This book seemed like really a plug to sell his other book and to get on his webstie. It did have some useful ideas but some of the ideas were common sense and some like shorting you lunch bread I felt was not a good idea. Over all I got some good tips and plan to read the book again.

Since I enjoy Beverly Lewis book I decided to try this book. It was free so how could I lose? I really enjoyed reading the story. If you enjoy the Amish love storys then this might a book you enjoy. The story is fiction but is based on a story of Amish that moved to Mexico in a failed attempt to make a new settlement.

I was sadly disappointed with this book. The book was interesting by I wanted to know what happened to her husband and why did she think he was dead. Also the ending left too much open. I like an ending weather it is happy or sad. Is she trying to sell more book so she is leaving unknowns?

A Revelation in autumn -Wanda Brunstetter

This is the second Demos Medical Publishing book I have read concerning Yoga. The poses are very well explained with written directions and pictures. The book has examples of modifications to help you with limited mobility or unsteadiness. An interesting part of the book is poses you can do in bed to start you day. If you have Parkinson or know of anyone with Parkinson this book will help with their guide to bring the benefits of yoga in your or someone you care for life.
