I've seen something similar done with a clam shell.

Hi delightful Mrs. P!
I was thinking about waking this group up out of dormancy and inviting more people to join us.

These are probably not functional, just props:

Thanks, Ruth, for pointing this group out to me.

I found this eensy little book in a drawer of my MiL's secretary. It's was published in 1952. This is definitely the smallest book we own. It's 1 1/2" x 2", and the title is The Baby's Bible and Prayer Book by Cecil C. Carpenter.

When my girls were small, we made a couple of dollhouses and attended a few miniature shows. But books were not part of the play.
Some of that collection has been unearthed in moving my household this past year. My youngest grand has been playing mostly with the animals and a barn. But my overall interest has been re-sparked. From Instagram, I’ve found sellers of miniature books of a high quality, and succumbed to their lure. I will take some pictures tomorrow and share them here.

I do have one picture on my phone today. This is a bowl I’ve kept on my desk since I was a children’s librarian decades ago. The Beatrix Potter book is complete. The figurines are pot rim sitters.

My daughter brought me The Book of Mini: Inside the Big World of Tiny Things this spring. And it has a tiny version of itself nestled inside the front cover, The Mini Book of Mini.

Here is a glance inside it:

Well, that started the ball rolling.

I’ve had a few fake books, with lovely old covers, but we went to a miniatures show in Cincinnati in July and I bought some more modern children’s picture books, also fake:

On Instagram, I’ve gotten sucked in to the dollhouse world there and found I needed some gardening books:

The new looking ones are openable, but have blank pages. The older book actually has print and plates:

Now that I’ve disarranged the bookcase, I’m glad I had taken a picture:

Artist Barbara J. Raheb made miniature books in the 90s till she lost her eyesight. They are museum quality pieces and sell for up to several thousand dollars. I saw her Peter Rabbit pop-up book on Instagram and went looking for it on the web. Haven’t found it yet, but here is another title:

I made this for my library director when she retired. All of the books come off the shelves individually and the pages open (although there's no particular contents inside).

>17 amysisson: Sweet! And labor intensive, yeah?

I came across a stack of outdated Penguin Putnam catalogs, and recalled that book blanks can be made by slicing an inch or so off of the spine edges of bound magazines. So that’s what I did. With these, the glossy color blocks can serve as covers in their own right; or you can fashion covers from elsewhere to glue over them.

>18 2wonderY: Yes, it was definitely labor intensive.

That's exactly how I made my books, but then I used patterned paper to put covers on them. Although once in a while, the printing on the spine of the original magazine can be just right for a book title. This is a diorama I made for my Mom in an iPhone box.

Found at a junk store this weekend:

The full text books were still in their little marketing box. $1
The beer steins were hung as earrings. My husband was stationed in Germany in the 70s and had collected steins. So it was particularly sweet to find these.
The wooden crate originally held hemorrhoid medicine.

I overindulged and bought a whole lot of tiny books made in England. I especially appreciate this maker’s choices because I love the old bindings in full size too. Most are blank pages, I splurged on a few that have text inside. I doubt I will spend that direction again, because these are accordion folded and not as well done as I had hoped. But she includes printed bookmarks too!

From another vendor, plastic crates and mini-sized albums.

>12 2wonderY: I don't do Instagram, but would like dealer information if there is a regular web site.

Last year and the year before I purchased a number of 1:9 scale books to go with Hitty. The maker, who sells on eBay, did some other titles in 1:9 scale when I mentioned Hitty collectors and I got a few, but when she added a version of the book Dr. Seuss's estate decided not to continue producing, it bummed me out on her a bit. Very few of her books have complete text, though, so they are mostly just display items.

>23 quondame: This is her Etsy site:

When you place an item in shopping cart, it will tell you the price in dollars, plus tax and shipping. I got 65 books for $160. Five of those have inside content. I will post more pictures, but not today.
