racking my brain going crazy trying to remember this book. can't remember the author or title or character names but know the plot entirely.
Petite (blonde?) arrives in a America with her Maid, must support them both. her mother was a prima ballerina so she begins to dance at the local saloon. not your typical saloon girl though, she has her own entrance, wears a mask when she dances & uses an alias. A wealthy land owner feels pity for her virginal self and courts her during the day , while visiting her alter ego in the evening. Fostering a growing attraction & feeling emboldened by her disguise she allows him an audience with her. this becomes a nightly meeting Her maid warns her she's playing with fire they consummate their relationship he is shocked to discover she was a virgin. he proposes to her virginal alter ego. she becomes pregnant and confesses as the dancer that she is with child. He vows take care of her and the child by keeping her as his mistress. he had married vestal virgin alter ego already, but had not consummated for fear of hurting her. many misunderstandings occur: she gets mad that he would cheat on her with herself? he realizes his virginal wife isn't a virgin and never completes consummation , &then believes his wife is pregnant by another man. there's a mine collapse & she performs cjpr on him. he's paralyzed by injuries sustained in the mine collapse. she nurses him back to health he walks again, they straighten out all their deceptions. happily ever after..... ring any bells anyone??

recklessred, please do not make a new post everyday. http://www.librarything.com/topic/155157

I know that you are anxious to find the name/author of your book. But, you need to give it some time for people who care to read the original post before you repost the exact same thing. After a few weeks, you can simply bump up your post to have it appear on the top of the list again.

I am not familiar with your book, but that does not mean that I won't try to search for it using the info you have provided. Do you remember what the cover of the book looked like? Was it a paperback or not?

Thank you for your patience.

A search on Google Books for romances regarding 'mine' and 'western' yields Clanton's Woman, and 'ballerina' and 'saloon' yields Dance with a Stranger -- but neither seem to match your plot. You think your book had published sometime in the 80s or 90s?

And recklessred, if you are worried about losing track of your topic, you can always find it by looking to the greyed box to the left of this webpage and clicking the link 'Started by you'. Any new message left in the topic will bump it up to the top of this group's topic list.

Thanks so much for the tips. Unfortunately I do not remember the exact cover. And the time of reading would have been around 88- 91. My Nana & her wonderful books moved in then, but it may have been published earlier in the eighties. I googled "Wild Bells to the Wild Sky" Laurie McBain and that was published in 83.That was the very first of my Nana's romances I read. So I can't even narrow down the time period.
