I read this book a long time ago i don't remember very much, however if you have an idea about the book let me know i appreciate it.
The book takes place in the west, the main character owns a farm. He is currently married to his best friends sister who has always loved him. The main character however is still suffering from the lost of his two children and his wife. The new wife is kind and loving, she likes to bake pies, he is very mean to her when he gets drunk. She is also taking care of three children from her sister or cousin who died, the husband is not thrilled bc they remind him of his children. One day her husband gets really drunk and tells her that he will never love her, so she goes and packs her things. In the morning she is getting everything ready to leave when one of the children tell her the little girl climbed into the loft, this was the room of the husbands dead children, bc the little girl wanted the doll. So she climbs the ladder but she misplaced her foot and falls, this is when her husband finally comes inside and finds her like that. Thats all i know bc i never finished the book, i don't know whether she lived or died.
