Book about a boy who has dreams where he sees a hotel in the distance while running away from mysterious shadows that keep chasing him. He finds a girl at school who's having the same dreams, and they both end up in the same dream, running away from the shadows. Later, they discover that a dog has been telepathically communicating this dream to them, and it's about an alien visit that occured while both kids were staying at a hotel when they were little. What's the name of this book??

Other Frequently sought stories listed here. It is linked on the group's home page, and ought to be linked at the top, not at the bottom of the description.

I was just glancing through the list of frequently sought stories -- amazing how many of them deal with runaways, castaways, survivors of apocalypses, and prisoners. Often the runaways take refuge in odd places (shopping malls, museums, etc.).

Yeah I noticed that. Survival, fantasy, science fiction, time travel, historical fiction, witches, dolls, unexpected death, topics you mentioned... Very popular. Some books just really resonate and are extremely memorable.

I had a really happy childhood, but I remember reading books about castaways and runaways and pretending I was running away. I think it's a natural childhood fantasy. I was always happy to be home by dinnertime, though! :-)
