Everything I've been reading lately has been a solid 3 star book. I need to read something that blows me away. Suggestions please! Does not have to be romance.

Can you list three five star books you've read in the past couple of years, just so we can get a sense of what you like? It's very hard to "fly blind," since everyone has different taste.
I'd say for thrillers: Every Dead Thing by John Connolly
Romance: Ain't She Sweet by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Mystery: The Cold Dish by Craig Johnson for starters.

Have you read The Edge of Never by J. A. Redmerski? Some people love it.
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. YA - ultimately a tear-jerker, but mostly a funny, love story.
Darkness Dawns and sequels by Dianne Duvall. One of my most recent favorite series. A cross between The Black Dagger Brotherhood and The Dark-Hunters.

Recent reads I'd recommend include:
Mr. Penumbra's 24-hour Book Store by Robin Sloan -- not sure how I'd describe this one except that I really enjoyed it a lot.
Enchanted by Alethea Kontis -- a fairy tale mashup
and Seraphina by Rachel Hartman which is a YA fantasy
Also, if you like children's books at all, The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall is really good.
But as previous posters said, some idea of what you like is going to help find other books you will think are 5 star....

Thanks for the suggestions
Looking back for a few five star books in my library:
Romance - Let Me Be the One by Bella Andre
BDB Dark Lover
Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie
Outlander - Diana Gabaldon
Summer at Willow Lake Susan Wiggs
Other books
To Kill a Mockingbird
Hope was Here - Joan Bauer Young adult
Leaving Paradise Simone Elkeles Young Adult
Mockingbird Kathryn Erskine
Redemption Series by Karen Kingsbury Christian Fiction
Night Road - Kristin Hannah
Maybe I'm too fussy. Maybe sometimes a four star book would be five if I were in a different frame of mind when I'm reading it.
Anyway, thanks again for the suggestions. I will definatly be checking them out.
