The Kitty blood did look like tomatoe sauce to me :-) and the meat was beef!

I think it would have been better with an overnight marinade because it's probably kind of tough, not being bred for consumption. Then browned in a cast iron skillet, followed by a braise on low heat for a few hours, until tender.
