I have been trying to locate the title of this romance novel I read as a young adult. If anyone could help that would be awesome! It is about an angel who watches over people and is very good at what he does except for this one women. He will de anything to keep her from finding love with anyone who he feels isn't good enough and so as a result she leads a loveless life over and over again and is more willing for her to be in danger than to find love. eventually the arch angel Michel sends him down to be with her and help her through this life and he finds out he has been in love with her this entire time and decides to give up being an angel to be with her. Also during the book he sees a child who is struggling and tells her parents that she needs music in her life and this kind of proves to her that his is indeed an "angel" like he says. At the end they make reference to a painting of the arch angel Michel and he doesn't know how he knows what he looks like he just does.
If anyone knows what his book is please help me! I loved it :)

>1 Eleasha: Well, the plot vaguely is reminiscent of Wim Wenders' film, Wings of Desire, but that was an original screenplay, I think, perhaps inspired in part by Rilke's poetry.
Was this a YA book? When did you read it? Was it newly-published then?

I have seen you all do the impossible in finding book titles and authors and I really hope that someone can help with this one!
I am trying to find a book I believe could have been written by Beverly Barton or someone who wrote stories with strong emotions, unbelievable and incredible occurrence to the point of emotional cruelty but with redemption.
The story was about a Special Ops, CIA top man with enemies, etc., finds love with a woman state-side and they have a relationship resulting in a pregnancy. Before leaving on his mission he ask the woman to wait for him. He leaves for a mission that eventually requires him to marry the woman "European Royalty" that he is protecting. He forms a relationship with her and they eventually begin a family.
Meantime the woman state-side has no way to contact the guy to let him know that she is pregnant so she waits as her due date draws near. Eight months into her pregnancy, she sees a photo of a couple in the lifestyle section of the newspaper and recognizes the man that she is "waiting" for and discovers that he is marrying another woman. She assumes that it is all part of the mission "fake wedding".
She gives birth with no one around, I believe that she had a daughter. The royal couple announce that they are expecting their first child. 3 years later they announce that they are expecting a second child.
Five years later on a beach in Florida or the Caribbean the "lover" finds her. She has done well for herself as a software designer/engineer and is financially independent. In one of the most heart-wrenching stories he confesses that while on the mission he fell in love with his wife although he never forgot about her. She asked why he returned now and he could give no explanation other than he wanted to see how she was doing, etc. Along comes her four year old daughter skipping up the beach towards her mother and the lover.
The lover looks at the woman with a question in his eyes. The child introduces herself by extending her hand for a handshake. The make is clearly shaken. After the handshake the woman sends the child into the beach house. She explains that the child is his daughter. She then asks him to leave as his life is far away and her, their, life is on that beach.
As he tries to explain the past and apologize the house blows up!
Later he tries to find out what happened using all of his military clearance. Five years pass.
The woman is a shell of herself but is pursued and falls in love with another man. The guy worked hard to win her over. They plan to marry. Unbeknownst to her he is also a special agent with enemies. The ex-lover returns to the story and finds her living and working in Chicago and newly engaged. He has still never fully gotten over his feelings for her. She doesn't care. She has a new life and she is pregnant with someone that she is sure will always be there for her.
A car bomb, dead fiancé and a miscarriage. She survives but is now a machine. No emotions or empathy.
Enter the ex-lover again this time with a photo of a 14 year old girl who, with the exception of her dark hair, is the spitting image of her mother.
The story races across two continents and several countries trying to find the girl. I don't think that it ends well and may have been a series.

evedallas, you should probably start your own thread on Name That Book. Make sure to use a descriptive title.
