I'm looking for a book that was required reading back when I was in school (GCSE). It was probably around 5th or 6th grade.
It's about a city that is run by a mega computer of sorts . There is a girl and a boy who begin to feel that he computer running the city isn't a very good idea. One incident that confirms their suspicions is when there is some sort of storm and the computer creates a huge shield around the city , but for that, it cuts out the power supply to the entire city including hospitals. A couple of people on life support machines die. Eventually the girl and boy destroy the computer.
