It would be very, very, very, very nice if we could merge series. There's often a case where, for example, one person types
This Is An Important Series, but someone else types
This is an important series, and yet another person types
This is that important series, with someone else entering
This is the one That's important, and you wind up multiple series that are really all the same thing.
Right now, the only way to combine them is to go in and manually correct every CK entry. For some publisher series especially, that's a whole heck of a lot of entries.
(It would be nice if series names weren't case-sensitive, either, but that's in another post.)

Totally agree. Yes, please.
I encountered a (big) case like that recently where there were about 300 entries in series and 250 in publisher series (where they actually belong). I haven't tackled it yet!
Series is way too messy because people just enter stuff without following directions (all those series names that are "series book 2", and yeah, case sensitivity), and it's way too easy to create a new series accidentally.
ETA: some of this could be attributed to the fact that it's sometimes very hard to find a specific series.
I had huge problems with umlauts, dashes and apostrophes.
Try finding the series Insel Bücherei, for example. It's a huge series, but impossible to find. I think I fixed Beck Wissen, but before, there were series entries for Beck'sche Reihe Wissen, Becks Wissen or whatever.

Also, it used to be putting "&" in a series title would cause it to fail, but that was fixed. However, now there are a couple of series that exist in both "&" and "and" versions. Recently, I unthinkingly created a series with "+" in the title, which has been a total fail. I'm still trying to sort that one out.

Yes -- we need some fix.
Sometimes you can't easily correct them because there are two different CKs that were merged, and only one shows up ... the other is buried somewhere on some different record and you would have to separate the records. Can't come up with an example right now, and maybe this is more of a bug, because in theory, all the available CK should show up, right?
