I have tried to combine Paula Michaels with Paula A. Michaels. I know there are 2 separate books. However looking at the author page and the search function within the author page/work, I get no author when I put Paula Michaels into the search block. Therefore I am unable to combine these 2. In fact the touchstones for these 2 authors is not working either.
Same happens for this Search
0 results (0.061 seconds; 0.045 for query; link)
Author search: Michele Rivkin-Fish
No results.

I'm having the same problem. When I try to combine the author James R. O'Shea with the author James O'Shea, the "combine author" search returns no results for either James O'Shea or for James R. O'Shea. For example:
http://www.librarything.com/search.php?term=James+O%27Shea&searchtype=author...
The link to another thread says that the authors are being reindexed to fix the problem, but that doesn't seem to have worked for this bug.

>4 wohz:
James O'Shea is a split name, so you should just alias osheajames-1 to osheajamesr instead of combining them (you can't combine one division of a split with another name, even though the interface implies you can). You can do the aliasing by clicking on "edit the division" to the right of that author page, then the "Alias divisions to other authors" link.
Edited for clarity.

Okay, looking at it. Sorry for problems.
