I posted this a few nights ago, and when looking for it only came across a blank post, so here's trying again. I hope it works this time.

I'd like to be able to get checkmarks for personal collections when looking at things like series pages, author pages, lists, recommendations, etc. It wouldn't have to be for all collections, maybe 3 to 5, max. I'd also like to choose the priority for those checkmarks (before "my library", after "wishlist" etc) .

I would like them for a few reasons.
1) I'd like to be able to tell which of my books are ebooks and which are regular books.
2) I'd like a collection for books that are contained in an omnibus I own, or omnibuses that I own all the distinct works of.

I imagine there are other similar reasons why people might also like checkmarks for their own personal collections.

Do you mean that you want checkmarks to appear next to your books in series pages, author pages, etc.? Don't they already? Is it that you want to be able to control the colors of the checkmarks? I don't get it.

Right now checkmarks show up for "Your library" (green) and "Wishlist" (pink) and if you have it in your account period (gray). They show up in that order, green supercedes pink, pink supercedes gray.

I'd like one of my own collections to have blue checkmarks (or another color), and another one to have purple checkmarks (or another color), and I'd like the blue one to come before the green one, and the purple one to come after the gray one. It would be a way of seeing a little more information when I look at the series pages, author pages, lists, etc. So I still want the green and pink and gray checkmarks, I'd just like a couple more as well that I can choose which collections they go on and that I can choose where they go in order or priority.

You're forgetting about the blue Read but Unowned checkmarks (also Wishlist is considered purple, not pink, which I mention just for clarity's sake because talking about various colors when we have some of them will likely lead to confusion).

Anyway, I agree it'd be nice if there were a handful more colors that we could choose to use in customizable ways, and to be able to sort all of them with our own preferences.

I think Tim would call that "fiddly". But it *would* make a cool feature for power users.

I would love to be able to distinguish between ebooks and physical books by checkmark color. I already have a collection called Kindle so it would be great to be able to give that collection its own color.

I would like this functionality as well.

>4 .Monkey.: Ah, I don't use the Read but Unowned collection, so I didn't realize it had it's own color. I don't really use wishlist either, so I was going by the fact that the green plus on a work page is add to library, and the pink plus is add to wishlist, to pick that color.

I realize I could fiddle with my collections so my ebooks were in the standing Library collection, and my regular books in the Wishlist collection, and the stuff related to omnibuses in the read but unowned collection (that comes after wishlist, yeah?) but then that starts meaning different things when other people look at my library.

>1 bestem: Seconding the request for different coloured ticks for individual works within omnibus editions, e-books and customisable ticks.

I would love more customization to have a full rainbow. It's one of my favorite features, the colored checkmarks. It's the main reason I use the default "Wishlist" and "Read but unowned" collections. I had a completely different classification scheme prior to the introduction of the checkmarks, but moved everything around to take advantage of the colors. (I really hate the default names "Your Library" and "Read but unowned" but the checkmarks are more important to me than being able to rename those collections.)

I currently put the eBooks into the Read but unowned collection since they are not on my shelves.

I don't use read but unowned either, but would like to sort books that I own and have not read from those I have read.

Yeah, we need a "to read" collection that will come with it's own color of checkmark!

I would use this feature if it existed.

While we're talking about small-ish tweaks, can we consider a spoiler flag for reviews? Or is that a whole 'nother topic?

Ack! Don't bring that up again. Tim gave us a spoiler tag and I think that as much as we're going to get.

Sorry.

Found the thread elsewhere, so I won't sully the discussion here.

Been about a year since I last brought this thread to the top, bumping it again because I still really really want it.

>5 jjwilson61: says it pretty well, but at the very least I think this would have to be tied in with another improvement (we'd have to be working on more than just this) for it to happen. I'm starring this to look it over later, and I'll let you know if anything changes.
