From a books perspective, has anyone had good shopping experiences at resale or consignment stores in the Chicago area? If so, where? My experiences have been poor to dismal generally. I'm not talking about lucking out with 1 good book on history among 1,000 books, I'm talking about fairly consistently finding 50+ "good" (define as you will) books among 1,000 books.

AAUW and larger library book sales are a different animal.

Eh, resale shops are generally the dregs. I go there to look for other things, and usually glance at the books while I'm there. It's possible to get lucky, but it's not a good investment of time if you're really book shopping.

The Brown Elephant on Halsted usually has a pretty hefty selection of books.
