I love the series read view, but would love a way of finding out how many books in a series I have left to read.

The problem with this is that LT doesn't really handle series well. There's the books, and the omnibuses, and the different books in a different language, and... If it did a graph of "what you haven't read yet", there would be a lot of space left after you'd actually read everything. It doesn't notice, for instance, that you've read The Magician's Nephew if you've read The Chronicles of Narnia, the 7-book omnibus. Or vice versa - if you've read all 7 books, it will still tell you you haven't read Chronicles.
Then there's the question of books that have not been entered into LT - for new series, that's mostly books that haven't been written yet, and no one could do anything about it. But for old and obscure series, often nobody has, or at least nobody has entered on LT, a couple books in the middle. If LT knows about books 1, 2, 3, 7, 14, and 15 - what's going to show on the graph?
Pity, because it would be nice. But at least for now, I think you'll have to do the calculations yourself.

I would like to see a revision of the series so that each part of the series occurs only once with the use of contains and contained in to give omnibuses, collections including stories and part publication.
An example might be "A Song of Ice and Fire"
The Hedge Knight (in)
The Sworn Sword (in)
The Mystery Knight (in)
A Game of Thrones (in)(contains)
A Clash of Kings (in)
A storm of swords (in)(Contains)
A Feast for crows (in)
A Dance with Dragons (in)(contains)
The Princess and the Queen (in)
Clicking (in) on the Hedge Knight would give a list of the anthologies containg it.
Clicking (in) on A Game of thrones would give the Omnibuses and box set it is in
Clicking (contains) on Game of Thrones would give the preview edition.
Clicking (contains) on A storm of swords would give Steel and Snow, Blood and Gold. The two parts it was split into for paperback publication.
etc.

I would like to be able to indicate publication order and internal chronology order within one series, so that a second series with exactly the same books need not be created.

Put off by all the paranormal and fantasy series in the Science Fiction genre list, with the Culture novels not even being in the first 100.
