I'm not sure what the official name for the page is; I'm referring to

https://www.librarything.com/index_catalog.php?page=group

The search itself seems to work well, in that the results it returns look correct, but the links to "see in (member)'s catalog" don't work - the search parameters aren't being passed through. They all have the form

https://www.librarything.com/catalog/lorax&collection=-1&deepsearch="" with an empty string where the search parameters should be.

Fixed. Thanks.

Well, now the search looks correct in the URL, but it doesn't actually do the search correctly.

Try a search in the Dewey Decimal Challenge group for ddc: 998 .

That will turn up one book in my catalog. Click on "See in lorax's catalog", though, and that's not what you get - I get a list of 133 books seemingly chosen at random. If I click on the search box that has been prepopulated with the same search, it correctly finds that one book.

(Well, correctly modulo non-bug questions of how DDC search should work, which I'll address in a separate thread.)

Re-opening.

I don't agree about how well this group/member search works.

Searching in the Feminist Theory group for members with "the second sex" gives no results. Leaving out the quotation marks shows the folks with The Second Sex, but also pulls in everything with "the" and "sex" in the title (which is quite a bit of junk to weed through). Is there something different about this search that it won't search for exact strings?

We need to bug that up.

FWIW, site search will not be getting this syntax any time soon. Site search needs relevancy work--work searching in particular isn't strong enough. Syntax changes are well down the list.

Fixed. The "Second Sex" bug. (It was messing up the encoding of the quotes.)

Also fixed a JS error on that page that was making searches fail if you used the search icon rather than return.

Can you go back to the original bug for this post? It's nice to see other bugs get squashed, but it would be even nicer if this one, as described in my #3, got fully fixed.

This bug as described in post 3 is still live.

Adding to Mike's list. If it's not you, Mike, kick it back to me.

It looks like it may just be searching "All Fields"; I noticed that a lot of the spurious books that crop up in my list for the example in #3 have copyright dates of 1998.

this should be working now. dont rely on the links above, but if you do a group search again and then click see in member's catalog, it should bring back the right books.

let me know if you are still having issues.

Looks good now, thank you.
