The Male or Female meme counts the authors represented in a library as male/female/other/not applicable. Is there anywhere that counts the number of books in a library by male/female/other/not applicable authors? I was surprised by how many more male authors than female are in my library but am now curious to know how many of the books I have were written by men and how many by women.

Not that I know of, but I agree that could be interesting.

I would like to add Author Gender as a column in my list of books. The Author pages have a Gender designation, as part of their Common Knowledge. However, I can't find Gender as a column option in my Settings > Display Styles, in any of the available Catalog Fields.
Am I missing something? Or should I ask LT to make Author Gender an available field?
Thanks!

To go back to the original question. In the meantime you can get to the numbers and even the titles of your books in each gender category.
Profile>Charts and graphs>Authors>Gender
If you click on the number of books in a category you get your catalogue of those books.
CK that can be shown in the catalogue is WORK CK. I have no idea how complicated it would be to add author CK, as each entry is based on the book and its work. However, from the gender page it is easy to see what books you have whose primary authors is listed by each gender. Bear in mind that this will only reflect the primary author, and only those who have CK.

>5 MarthaJeanne: Appreciated! Context: I'm somewhat dismayed that in 2024 only 1 of every 4 books I read was by a female author, and this will help me prioritize my books TBR.

I have my author list now with more female than male. At least until I check the theology collection.

As the OP, I can report that counting by work rather than author improves my figures but the gender balance still hasn't reached parity. However, there is a historical backlog to overcome: my figures for books added in 2024 have been pretty much equal.
